OKI Ballot Printer Company Sends DAMNING “Response to Factual Errors in Maricopa County Elections Report” Debunking Maricopa County’s Lies About Ballot Printer Failures – LEFTWING MEDIA SILENT

Maricopa County’s ballot printer source, OKI Data Americas, recently responded to the County’s sham ballot printer investigation, debunking false claims and demanding a corrected report from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

According to OKI’s statement, Maricopa County did not even contact the company, and they were “completely unaware that an investigation was underway.”

The Gateway Pundit reported on Maricopa County’s Ballot-on-Demand Printer Investigation led by former Arizona Supreme Court Justice Ruth McGregor.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell later called for consequences for the stolen Maricopa County Midterm Election and the “cover-up” investigation by election officials.

It is apparent from OKI’s response that on election day and prior, Maricopa County did not accurately conduct tests or even read the printer manual. This discredits the entire investigation by Maricopa County. They either lied or were so incompetent that they couldn’t follow basic instructions. What else did they hide?

OKI writes, “Without clarification in the testing process that defines the exact paper type and the printing source (multipurpose tray or cassette), the conclusion is disingenuous given the fact that the use of 100 lb. paper can be out of specification for the B432 printers, as can be discerned readily from the printers’ manual.”

According to Maricopa County’s report, “Maricopa County printed its ballots on 80-pound paper for the 2020 primary and general elections” but increased paper weight to 100 lbs in 2022. OKI states in their response, “the maximum paper weight through the paper cassettes is 80 lb. text (120 g/m2).” Oki concludes, “it seems that the true underlying cause of the election issues was the use of 100 lb. paper without reviewing the manual and/or confirming with OKI that such use was within the specifications of the OKI B432 printers.”

Maricopa County’s report actually acknowledges, “the combined effect of using 100-pound ballot paper and a 20-inch ballot during the 2022 general election was to require that the Oki B432 printers perform at the extreme edge of their capability, a level that could not be reliably sustained by a substantial number of printers.” They later claim that “despite the assurances of the manufacturer, many of the Oki B432 printers were not capable of reliably printing 20-inch ballots on 100-pound paper under election-day conditions.”

However, OKI refers to this claim of “assurances by the manufacturer” as “another potential factual inaccuracy,” ultimately concluding the County and their “investigators” likely did not read the printers’ manual. “Had the County consulted OKI prior to such use, the design specifications would have been discussed and alternatives could have been explored,” states the response.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, another concerning factor of this report states that OKI B432 printers “showed speckling at the edge of the ballot” during pre-election stress testing, which could have interfered with the timing marks on ballots. Despite this discovery being made in September 2022, Maricopa County moved forward anyway. They knew these were issues would arise.

China to establish spy base in Cuba – WSJ

Beijing has reportedly agreed to pay Havana billions of dollars to build an electronic surveillance facility focused on the US

China and Cuba have allegedly reached a secret agreement that would allow Beijing to construct an electronic eavesdropping facility on the island, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing anonymous US intelligence officials.

According to the outlet, the spy base, which would be located some 100 miles (160km) from the state of Florida, would allow Chinese intelligence services to track US ship traffic and pick up electronic communications throughout the southeastern part of the country, which houses a large number of military bases.

Officials also told the WSJ that China had allegedly agreed to pay “several billion dollars” to Cuba for the project and that the two countries had reached an agreement in principle. The outlet’s sources did not provide any further details as to where exactly the base would be built or whether construction had already begun.

“While I cannot speak to this specific report, we are well aware of—and have spoken many times to—the People’s Republic of China’s efforts to invest in infrastructure around the world that may have military purposes, including in this hemisphere,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said in a statement in response to the WSJ’s claims. “We monitor it closely, take steps to counter it, and remain confident that we are able to meet all our security commitments at home, in the region, and around the world,” he added.

Neither the Chinese nor Cuban embassies in Washington have yet responded to reports about the alleged deal.

Despite the unconfirmed nature of WSJ’s report, a number of US politicians and pundits have expressed concern over China’s alleged plan to build a spy base in Washington’s backyard.

“Establishing this facility signals a new, escalatory phase in China’s broader defense strategy,” Craig Singleton of the Washington-based Foundation for the Defense of Democracy told the WSJ. “It’s a bit of a game changer,” he added, noting that “the selection of Cuba is also intentionally provocative.”

Tensions between Washington and Beijing escalated in early February, when US authorities said they spotted a Chinese spy balloon over American territory and shot it down. Beijing stated that the balloon was merely a meteorological probe that ended up in US airspace by accident, but US officials maintain the device was used by China to gather intelligence.

Hundreds of children rescued from Sudan orphanage

More than 70 children have died at the care home since fighting erupted on April 15, a humanitarian group has said

Humanitarian agencies in Sudan say they have evacuated hundreds of children trapped in an orphanage in the capital, Khartoum, amid ongoing fighting between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said in a statement on Thursday that more than 280 children were evacuated from the Mygoma Orphanage, along with 70 caretakers, to a “safer location outside the capital.”

"They have had a difficult time in an area where conflict has raged for the past six weeks, and they have been deprived of adequate health care,” said Jean-Christophe Sandoz, head of the ICRC delegation in Sudan.

The children, between the ages of one month and 15 years, were transferred to Wad Medani, a city about 200km from Khartoum after their orphanage was damaged in heavy fighting.

The UN children’s agency (UNICEF) said it has ensured the transit center that the children have now been relocated to is properly prepared. The agency said it is also working with the relevant authorities to identify foster families for the children.

“The safe movement of these incredibly vulnerable children to a place of safety offers a ray of light in the midst of the ongoing conflict in Sudan,” said Mandeep O’Brien, the UNICEF representative in the country.

Seventy-one children have died at the state-run Mygoma Orphanage since a battle between the country's army and paramilitaries erupted in mid-April, Hadhreen, a volunteer organization that supports the home, said on Wednesday.

Local medics said they died of severe malnutrition and dehydration as the humanitarian crisis worsened.

According to UNICEF, more than 13.6 million children remain at risk across Sudan and are in desperate need of lifesaving assistance. The agency has stated that it requires $838 million to address the humanitarian crisis.

Intense clashes and bombardments in Khartoum and sister cities since April 15 have killed hundreds of civilians and left more than 5,000 others injured, according to the World Health Organization. The International Organization for Migration said more than one million people have now been forced to flee Sudan.

Does Anyone Believe American Propaganda Anymore?

A new Washington Post article about Nord Stream throws Ukraine overboard and absolves the United States, offering another version of reality we'll have to strain to take seriously

This is getting silly now.

The Kakhovka dam just exploded in Ukraine, flooding a huge territory and causing another insane ecological disaster. Russia and Ukraine spent yesterday trading accusations, while the U.S. leaked it was “leaning towards Russia as the culprit of the attack.” The synchronicity was uncanny, with the media’s dam freakout coming exactly as public panic about the previous lunatic infrastructure attack came full circle, moving from certainty Russia blew up the Nord Stream pipeline to belated claims we knew all along Ukraine did it. It’s as if officials want the world to take American intelligence assessments more as Gilbert Gottfried routines than truth.

At 10:52 a.m. yesterday, the Washington Post published an exclusive called, “U.S. had intelligence of detailed Ukrainian plan to attack Nord Stream pipeline.” The story contended the United States learned from a “European intelligence service” in June, 2022 that Ukraine was planning a “covert attack” on Nord Stream, using divers who “reported directly to the commander in chief of the Ukrainian armed forces,” General Valery Zaluzhny. Apparently, U.S. and European allies knew about the Ukrainian plan and were impotent to stop a move they worried “risked a severe Russian response.”

The only people in the country who didn’t roll eyes or laugh at these latest anonymous contortions were reporters. “Americans Were Aware of Intelligence Warning of Ukrainian Pipeline Attacks,” wrote the New York Times, while Rolling Stone declared, “The U.S. Knew Ukraine Was Planning to Attack Russia’s Nord Stream Pipelines,” and so on. My favorite was the Godfather-themed header on the site of former Mother Jones writer Kevin Drum, “Ukraine was behind the Nord Stream bombing all along”:

Ex-US VP Pence demands F-16s for Kiev

The presidential hopeful called for giving Ukrainians “everything they need” to fight Russia

The unprecedented military assistance that the US government and its NATO allies have sent to Ukraine to fight Russia was not expedient enough, former Vice President Mike Pence, who seeks the Republican nomination for president in 2024, believes.

“President Joe Biden has been slow in providing military resources to Ukraine,” the politician stated during a CNN town hall on Wednesday. “We are [still] waiting on F-16s to be transferred from somewhere.”

The US-manufactured fighter jets are one of the few weapon systems requested by Kiev that the incumbent Democratic administration has not agreed to provide. The Pentagon cited logistical problems and the long time required to train Ukrainian pilots.

“I believe the United States of America needs to continue to provide the courageous soldiers in Ukraine with the resources they need to repel … the Russian invasion and restore their territorial integrity,” Pence declared during an that followed his official campaign announcement.

Moscow considers the hostilities in Ukraine to be part of a US-led proxy war against Russia. It said it was left with no option but to act militarily after in late 2021 NATO refused to address Russia’s security concerns and pushed on with a progressively deeper involvement within Ukraine.

The GOP is split on the aid issue. Some party heavyweights believe that the billions of dollars sent to Ukraine could have been spent to address domestic issues such as border security. Kiev’s record of corruption is another issue that has given some Republicans pause. Skeptics have also warned that Washington has been pushing Russia towards China, a nation that they perceive as the biggest threat to American interests.

Others, including Pence, have accused Biden of being soft on Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. During the town hall, he called the Russian leader a “war criminal” and seemingly rebuked his former running mate, Donald Trump, for calling Putin a “genius.”

Another Trump administration member-turned-GOP nomination contender, Nikki Haley, urged ensuring Kiev’s victory to “send a message to China.” Meanwhile, Vivek Ramaswamy, another would-be nominee, suggested that the US should make concessions on Ukraine to drive a wedge between Moscow and Beijing.

Mel Gibson and Tim Ballard Reportedly Involved in 4-Part Docuseries on Global Child Sex Trafficking in Ukraine and Elsewhere

Rumors are swirling on social media that Mel Gibson is involved in a four-part docuseries with Operation Underground Railroad founder Tim Ballard exposing child sex trafficking in Ukraine and worldwide.

Leading Report tweeted about the upcoming docuseries on Tuesday.

Kari Lake later tweeted a photo of her with Gibson saying, “We talked about the tragedy at our border and the horrific child trafficking that’s happening the day this photo was taken. Mel Gibson’s heart and soul are in the right place. We are praying for you and rooting for you. God bless you Mel!”

News Week reports,

Despite the founder of O.U.R., Tim Ballard suggesting in January 2023 that Gibson was involved in his upcoming four-part docuseries, Gibson’s representative has told Newsweek that none of the reports are accurate.

Several links are being made between Gibson and the nonprofit O.U.R., which was founded and run by former CIA member Ballard. A picture of Gibson wearing an O.U.R. branded hat was shared online, suggesting an announcement was coming soon from Ballard, but the picture was originally posted online in July 2022 as evidenced by a Reddit thread.

Ballard, the founder of O.U.R., spoke at a conference in Utah in January 2023 and detailed his relationship with Gibson, revealing the actor’s passion for his charity.

Though he’s not credited on IMDb, Ballard claims Gibson did the final edit for his movie Sound of Freedom. Through this relationship, Ballard claims Gibson rang him at the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, and asked him to help rescue children from the country.

It is possible that Gibson is keeping the film quiet for his own safety.

Tim Ballard of Operation Underground Railroad told the crowd at the Utah Eagle Forum 2023 Annual Convention in January that a four-part docuseries, executive produced by Tony Robbins, was already in the works and suggested that Gibson was involved.

Ballard: I got a phone call from Mel Gibson… This was hours after the invasion, and he said he supports a bunch of orphans in Ukraine, and he was worried about them, and he asked if I could help get them out. So, now I’ve got 12 from my wife, and about 13 others from Mel Gibson. And I’m thinking, okay, I got this list of kids, I gotta get out. I told Mel, I said, you gotta help me this is gonna be expensive. I won’t ask you for a direct donation, but can you help me film this? You know this film was happening so we can get people to understand and they can support us. He said no problem. He helped us get set up and started filming. Four months later, what I thought was going to be maybe a documentary about Ukraine ends up being a four-part docuseries. It’s almost done. It’s being produced by DNA films. and executive produced by Tony Robbins. That’s how crazy it got and how prophetic my wife was. When I showed up in Ukraine with a list of, I think, 20 names, the Ukrainians countered me and gave me over 10,000 names of orphans that they didn’t know where they were because of the chaos caused by war. And more importantly, and more frightening to me, was the fact that I know that human trafficking is a $32 billion-a-year business. It’s the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world, and I also know how kids get forced into that market. And it’s through vulnerable situations, like in the aftermath of a hurricane, mostly in a developed country or an earthquake, or in this case, a war. And so the traffickers call it harvest time, and that was the intel we were getting. And so we weren’t just there to extract those kids but look for leads. And it really was a miracle what happened, you know, it’s one of these things that, you know, faith precedes the miracle.

"Chinese Trojan Horse"? Investigation Reveals TikTok Is Filled With Deep State Assets

Contrary to the narrative espoused by American politicians concerning TikTok and alleged Chinese spying, it turns out the app is infested with agents of the US National Security State.

Amid a national hysteria claiming the popular video-sharing app is a Chinese Trojan Horse, a MintPress News investigation has found dozens of ex-U.S. State Department officials working in key positions at TikTok. Many more individuals with backgrounds in the FBI, CIA and other departments of the national security state also hold influential posts at the social media giant, affecting the content that over one billion users see.

While American politicians demand the app be banned on national security grounds, try to force through an internet surveillance act that would turn the country into an Orwellian state, make clueless statements about how TikTok is dangerous because it connects to your Wi-Fi, it is possible that TikTok is already much closer to Washington than it is to Beijing.

STATE DEPARTMENT-AFFILIATED MEDIA

For quite some time, TikTok has been recruiting former State Department officials to run its operations. The company’s head of data public policy for Europe, for example, is Jade Nester. Before being recruited for that influential role, Nester was a senior official in Washington, serving for four years as the State Department’s director of Internet public policy.

Mariola Janik, meanwhile, left a long and fruitful career in the government to work for TikTok. Starting out at the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Janik became a career diplomat in the State Department before moving to the Department of Homeland Security. In September, however, she left the government to immediately take up the position of TikTok’s trust and safety program manager, a job that will inevitably include removing content and reshaping algorithms.

While there is no suggestion that Janik is anything other than a model employee, the fact that a U.S. government agent walked into such an influential position at the social media giant should be cause for concern. If, for instance, a high Chinese official was hired to influence what the U.S. public saw in their social media feeds, it would likely be the centerpiece of the TikTok furor currently gripping Washington.

Janik is not the only former security official working on TikTok’s trust and safety team, however. Between 2008 and 2021, Christian Cardona enjoyed a distinguished career at the State Department, serving in Poland, Turkey and Oman, and was in the thick of U.S. interventionism in the Middle East. Between 2012 and 2013, he was an assistant to the U.S. ambassador in Kabul. He later left that role to become the political and military affairs manager for Iran.

In the summer of 2021, he went straight from his top State Department job to become product policy manager for trust and safety at TikTok, a position that, on paper, he appears completely unqualified for. Earlier this year, Cardona left the company.

Another influential individual at TikTok is recruiting coordinator Katrina Villacisneros. Yet before she was choosing whom the company hires, Villacisneros worked at the State Department’s Office of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs. And until 2021, she was part of Army Cyber Command, the U.S. military unit that oversees cyberattacks and information warfare online.

Chelsea Handler recalls threesome with masseuse that led to breakup with ex

She kneaded to end it.

Chelsea Handler realized she had to break up with her ex-boyfriend Ted Harbert after having a threesome with him and her masseuse.

“I was very turned on by this woman,” the comedian told Andy Cohen of the massage therapist during Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “Andy Radio,” clarifying that she has “slept with a woman” but “hasn’t dated a woman.”

She added, “I ended up hooking up with her several times without the guy.”

The ménage à trois caused Handler, 48, to realize she was more into the unidentified masseuse than Harbert, which ultimately led to the demise of their relationship.

“That’s when I knew it was time to break up with the guy,” she said.

The stand-up star dated the former NBC Broadcasting chairman, now 67, for four years before calling things off in 2010. He married Lisa Medrano the following year.

Handler admitted she never told Harbert that she was sleeping with the masseuse on the side, but she called their threesome “fun” and said she would have one again.

Oxford University Announces UK’s First LGBTQ+ History Professorship

Oxford announced this week the creation of the United Kingdom’s first permanent ‘Professorship in LGBTQ+ History’ at the English-speaking world’s oldest university.

Professor Matt Cook will become the UK’s first professor of LGBTQ+ history at Oxford University’s Mansfield College following the donation of £4.9 million from the Arcadia Fund, a charity with the stated mission of defending the “complexity of human culture and the natural world” in order to build a “vibrant, resilient and green future.”

Oxford described Prof Cook, the author of such works as London and the Culture of Homosexuality and A Gay History of Britain: Love and Sex Between Men since the Middle Ages, as a social and cultural historian.

In 2017, Cook co-authored the National Trust’s first LGBTQ guidebook, Prejudice and Pride, and is said to have written on issues such as “queer urban life”, queer domesticity, and HIV/Aids.

Cook will also become the first Jonathan Cooper Chair of the History of Sexualities, a position named after deceased English lawyer Jonathan Cooper OBE, a legal activist who campaigned against Brexit and for the inclusion of LGBT people into the armed forces.

Former NATO Head: Some NATO Countries Are Considering Sending Troops to Ukraine

The former civilian head of the NATO alliance is warning that some Eastern European states are prepared to send their soldiers to Ukraine if the bloc does not make significant pledges to Kiev during an upcoming summit.

Anders Rasmussen, former NATO Secretary-General and current adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, is touring Europe and Washington to gauge the level of support Kiev should expect at the Vilnius Summit in July. “I think the Poles would seriously consider going in and assemble a coalition of the willing if Ukraine doesn’t get anything in Vilnius,” he said. “We shouldn’t underestimate the Polish feelings, the Poles feel that for too long western Europe did not listen to their warnings against the true Russian mentality.”

Poland and the Baltic States may send troops to Ukraine if the alliance fails to make a strong enough commitment to Kiev in Lithuania, according to Rasmussen. “If Nato cannot agree on a clear path forward for Ukraine, there is a clear possibility that some countries individually might take action. We know that Poland is very engaged in providing concrete assistance to Ukraine.” He continued, “I wouldn’t exclude the possibility that Poland would engage even stronger in this context on a national basis and be followed by the Baltic states, maybe including the possibility of troops on the ground.”

For several months, members of the North Atlantic Alliance have debated how to upgrade Ukraine’s status at the Vilnius Summit. Eastern European members and Kiev are seeking a concrete path to membership with a timeline for when Ukraine will be permitted to join. Some Western European states and Washington do not agree and prefer to focus on the war with Russia.

A subgroup of Eastern European countries within NATO dubbed the “Bucharest Nine” issued a statement on Tuesday calling for Ukraine to receive a path to membership. “We expect that in Vilnius, we will upgrade our political relations with Ukraine to a new level, and launch a new political track that will lead to Ukraine’s membership in NATO, once conditions allow,” the statement continued. “We will continue our support to Ukraine on this path.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said last month Paris will not support full membership for Kiev. Macron called for NATO to “build something between the security provided to Israel and a full-fledged membership.”

There appears to be a consensus among members of the North Atlantic alliance on arming Ukraine as part of a significant multi-year commitment. “America and our allies are helping meet Ukraine’s needs on the current battlefield while developing a force that can deter and defend against aggression for years to come,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a speech in Finland on Friday. “That means helping build a Ukrainian military of the future, with long-term funding.”

Rasmussen claimed that Marcon was beginning to budge on the issue. “After a slow start, momentum was now building behind these ideas,” including in France, he said. Rasmussen noted that some members, such as Germany, believe that giving Ukraine a path to membership could provoke Russia.

However, the former NATO Secretary-General believes that some member states threatening to send troops to Ukraine will push Berlin and others to give Kiev a quick path to membership in the alliance.

Video: Pfizer’s “Secret” Report on the Covid Vaccine. Beyond Manslaughter. The Evidence is Overwhelming. The Vaccine Should Be Immediately Withdrawn Worldwide

The following video interview with Prof. Michel Chossudovsky pertains to the Confidential Pfizer Report released as part of a Freedom of Information (FOI) procedure.

The report is a bombshell. The vaccine was launched in mid-December 2020. By the end of February 2021, “Pfizer had already received more than 1,200 reports of deaths allegedly caused by the vaccine and tens of thousands of reported adverse events, including 23 cases of spontaneous abortions out of 270 pregnancies and more than 2,000 reports of cardiac disorders.”

This Confidential Pfizer Report provides data on deaths and adverse events recorded by Pfizer from the outset of the vaccine project in December 2020 to the end of February 2021, namely a very short period (at most two and a half months).

The data from mid-December 2020 to the end of February 2021 unequivocally confirms “Manslaughter”. Based on the evidence, Pfizer had the responsibility to immediately cancel and withdraw the “vaccine”.

Pfizer’s Worldwide marketing of the Covid-19 Vaccine beyond February 28th, 2021, is no longer an “Act of Manslaughter”.

Murder as opposed to Manslaughter implies “Criminal Intent”.

Pfizer’s Covid 19 Vaccine constitutes a Criminal Act. From a legal standpoint it is an “Act of Murder” applied Worldwide to a target population of 8 billion people.

What is contained in Pfizer’s “confidential” report is detailed evidence on the impacts of the “vaccine” on mortality and morbidity. This data which emanates from the “Horse’s Mouth” can now be used to confront as well formulate legal procedures against Big Pharma, the governments, the WHO and the media.

Second Biden Campaign Co-Chair Implicated In Hunter Biden Donations And Ukraine Lobbying

A former chair to President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign has been found to have accepted donations from Hunter Biden and sought advice on Ukraine, according to emails obtained by Fox News.

Democratic Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), one of Biden’s national co-chairs along with Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), was receiving donations from the embattled first son as far back as 2016 during her first campaign for Congress. Emails between Blunt Rochester and Hunter Biden show the congresswoman thanking him for “generous contributions” totaling $3,000. Fox previously reported that Hunter Biden served as an outside advisor to Sen. Coons during his 2010 campaign, making Rep. Blunt Rochester the second Biden campaign co-chair to seek his advice on international affairs.

“I can’t thank you enough. You know that it’s not easy running for any office. It means a lot to have you on my team,” Rep. Blunt Rochester wrote to Hunter Biden in February of 2016.

Less than an hour later, Hunter Biden replied with promises of a second fundraiser to which Blunt Rochester asked if he could brief her “on the Ukraine.”

The correspondence started just one day after Hunter Biden thanked the president of Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings for gifts he received for his birthday. The first son was a member of the company’s board between 2013 and 2019.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. James Comer (R-KY), is exploring whether Hunter Biden committed any crimes during his time as a lobbyist on behalf of Burisma and other foreign companies. Key to the investigation is whether President Biden, then Vice President, was aware or even sanctioned any illegal activity. Newly released emails show Hunter Biden was regularly emailing the Obama White House about his lobbying work, giving his father clear access to his business dealings. As Vice President, Joe Biden took a leading role in pressuring Ukraine to fire state actors he believed to be corrupt, though the president has maintained his actions in the country were not related to his son’s lobbying efforts.

On Thursday Rep. Comer unveiled that the FBI spoke with an informant as far back as 2016 who claimed President Biden accepted a bribe as part of Hunter Biden’s work in Ukraine. The tip came at the same time that Rep. Blunt Rochester was accepting Hunter Biden’s advice on Ukraine.

Tens of thousands marched on Thursday in the 25th annual Tel Aviv Pride Parade, kicking off a weekend of festivities in the largest event of its kind in the Middle East.

The parade maintained its celebratory character, despite concerns about security and discrimination, and the country’s fraught political atmosphere.

“Pride weekend has kicked off with a clear message: We are all equal, we are all people, and we all deserve to love who we want without fear,” Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said at the start of the parade.

Unlike previous years, the parade and the afterparty usually held at the end of the march were split into two events due to the intensely hot weather this year. The party will be held Friday at Ganei Yehoshua in the north of the city.

Thursday’s crowd was adorned with feathers, leather, glitter and rainbows, as German, English and Spanish could be heard among the mixture of locals and tourists.

You could soon be jailed for three years for making an “offensive Facebook post”

A sweeping law could see Australians jailed for three years for posting what’s deemed ‘offensive’ on Facebook in an attempt to protect minority groups.

Queensland’s Labor government has introduced a bill that would dramatically increase the maximum prison sentence for racist, anti-gay, anti-trans or seriously bigoted statements. Making such statements already carry a maximum six-month jail term, but that would be increased to three years under the new bill.

According to the Daily Mail, Inflammatory Facebook posts would be a criminal offence with the legislation covering ‘any form of communication to the public, including by speaking, writing, printing, displaying notices, broadcasting, telecasting, screening or playing of tapes or other recorded material, or by electronic means’. Posting a Nazi symbol on social media, or carrying it around publicly, will also prompt jail time.

Neo-Nazis who displayed swastikas face hefty prison sentences under the proposed Criminal Code (Serious Vilification and Hate Crimes) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023.

It covers ‘any conduct that is observable by the public, including actions, gestures and the wearing or display of clothing, signs, flags, emblems or insignia’.

Displaying a swastika is already illegal in Victoria and NSW, with Western Australia soon following and South Australia also considering the issue.

In NSW, it attracts a year long jail term or a $100,000 fine. The laws in Victoria and NSW have an exception when it comes to people displaying swastikas for religious reasons – as it is a common symbol in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain faiths.

While the proposed law has a similar exemption in Queensland, there are fears overzealous police could arrest and charge someone regardless.

Queensland Council for Civil Liberties president Michael Cope said the proposed laws targeting Nazi swastikas could see Hindus criminally charged for displaying their religious symbol.

Swastikas are a symbol of the sun in Hinduism and are commonly displayed during the Diwali festival of lights.

‘There’s a serious prospect that people of different faiths who use the swastika and similar symbols, as an ordinary part of their religious belief, I think are going to be subject to prosecution under this legislation,’ Mr Cope told a parliamentary hearing on Monday.

‘Given the prevalence of the swastika in so many different cultural and religious contexts, inevitably, someone is going to get charged.’

In a submission to the parliamentary Legal Affairs and Safety Committee which is examining the legislation, the Queensland Council for Civil Liberties said Hindus and comedians both faced being criminally charged.

‘We all know the swastika has been around for millennia including being a prominent symbol in the Roman world,’ it said. ‘But today it is of course used extensively in Hinduism. The law tries to address this concern by the defence of genuine religious purpose.

‘However, clearly it is most likely the need to defend charges under this law will fall on religious and cultural groups who make use of the symbol on a regular basis, not to mention artists and satirists.’ Labor MP James Martin argued the bill did allow a ‘genuine religious purpose’ defence.

But Mr Cope said the legislation gave police, rather than just the Director of Public Prosecutions, the power to have someone charged, which meant the nuance could be lost on a cop.

Russia tells US government to publish truth about JFK assassination

If the US wishes to be considered an authority on democracy and human rights, it ought to come clean about the killings of President John F. Kennedy and his brother, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

During her regular daily briefing, Zakharova was asked about the statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said Washington intends to champion human rights and fundamental freedoms in China and worldwide.

“Washington itself has long fallen short of the standards of democracy that it publicly declares everywhere,” Zakharova replied, adding that the US promotes “pathetic, hypocritical rhetoric” abroad to hide its neo-colonial ambitions and geopolitical interests.

“The history of American politics contains many unsightly facts that are deliberately hushed up by the US authorities,” Zakharova noted. As an example, she cited the Kennedy family – and the recent anniversary of the June 1968 assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy in Los Angeles, during the presidential primaries in which he was a favorite.

The RFK assassination came two months after the fatal shooting of civil rights leader Martin Luther King – and almost five years after the November 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 35th US president, Zakharova told reporters.

“I suggest to Mr. Blinken to muster up the courage and publish all the materials regarding the political assassinations of the US presidents, in particular John F. Kennedy, and tell his people – his people, first of all – the truth about what happened in Dallas” she said.

“Only when they close the case on these political killings, can they try to correct other countries,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman argued. “While such egregious crimes remain unresolved, and the killers not found and convicted, if I were American leaders I would not open my mouth about other countries, and certainly stop lecturing everyone else how to live.”

Solve the Kennedy assassination – both of them, actually – and then maybe you will be regarded as an authority. Or maybe not.

RFK’s son and JFK’s nephew Robert Francis Kennedy Junior launched his primary challenge to President Joe Biden in April. In an interview last month, he said there was “overwhelming evidence that the CIA was involved” in his uncle’s murder, and “very convincing but circumstantial” evidence the spy agency was also linked to his father’s assassination.

The official findings of the US government, known as the Warren Commission Report, said that US Marine veteran Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone and shot the president while his motorcade was passing through Dallas on November 22, 1963. Before he could stand trial, Oswald was shot dead by nightclub owner Jack Ruby at the Dallas Police Headquarters. The Warren Commission ruled that Ruby had acted alone, on impulse and out of grief.

Ruby died in prison in 1967. Later that year, the CIA issued a directive on how to discredit “conspiracy theorists” who doubted the official findings of the Warren Commission.

High Court Denies Assange Right to Appeal Putting Him Perilously Close to Extradition

The High Court of England and Wales in a three-page decision rejected all eight grounds for appeal, opening Julian Assange up to extradition to the U.S.

A single judge on the High Court of England and Wales has rejected imprisoned WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange’s nearly year-old request to appeal the British decision to extradite him to the United States to stand trial on espionage and computer intrusion charges.

Assange’s legal team has one last recourse in the U.K. and has five days to request a hearing before the court.

Stella Assange, Assange’s wife, issued this statement on Thursday:

“On Tuesday next week my husband Julian Assange will make a renewed application for appeal to the High Court. The matter will then proceed to a public hearing before two new judges at the High Court and we remain optimistic that we will prevail and that Julian will not be extradited to the United States where he faces charges that could result in him spending the rest of his life in a maximum security prison for publishing true information that revealed war crimes committed by the U.S. government.”

The single judge on the court, Sir Jonathan Swift, issued the 3-page decision on Tuesday. It is not yet publicly available on the High Court’s website.

In December, Assange appealed to the European Court of Human Rights. The court could issue an emergency injunction to stop Assange’s extradition until it examines the case.

Assange initially won the case against extradition in the lower court based on his health and conditions of U.S. prisons. This was overturned by the High Court after the court accepted U.S. written assurances that Assange would not be mistreated in U.S. prisons.

An application from Assange to the U.K. Supreme Court to appeal that decision was not granted. In July last year Assange’s team filed a cross appeal to the High Court on eight grounds including that the prosecution was political and that it violated the U.S.-U.K. extradition treaty barring extradition for political offenses.

It was this application for appeal that Swift rejected 11 months later.

The reaction from press freedom groups was swift.
