"Children brought back..." - not "sent back".

Similar to context of tweet the other day (bring vs send).

Good move, on multiple levels.

Also, if brought back, how is the handoff going to be conducted? There must be someone or an entity on the other end to take custody and responsibility.

With MS-13, this stops 'catch and release'.

What if during the transfer, any crimes committed while away were provided in summary as well?

SMART!!! (on multiple levels).

Imagine of some of those "brought back" are actually fugitives in their own countries?

Hmmm.

Had done a thought experiment a while back, in transforming my own thinking about this topic, about if some US citizen was popping over to Mexico, committing crimes, and just getting booted back when caught, instead of alternative of being jailed if done here.

  • If they were brought back here, and we were informed, "hey, we just caught your citizen robbing and pillaging in our country" - we probably would think twice about releasing them into our own streets!
