Found this on the space force:

The new Space Force military branch could help prevent a future cataclysmic event caused by asteroids or other objects in space heading towards Earth, says a new interagency report published by the White House.

The June 20 report by the National Science & Technology Council, titled โ€œNational Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan, does not explicitly mention the Space Force, but as Space.com notes, the action plan would involve agencies throughout the federal government, and would likely include the Space Force. It cites Aaron Miles of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, who said every agency brings a skill to the table, and โ€œOne of the objectives of this plan is coordinating and leveraging those capabilities where they are across the government.โ€

According to the document, near-Earth object (NEO) impact such as from asteroids โ€œpose a significant and complex risk to both human life and critical infrastructure, and have the potential to cause substantial and possibly even unparalleled economic and environmental harm.โ€

It says the strategy and action plan โ€œprovides a road map for a collaborative and federally coordinated approach to developing effective technologies, policies, practices, and procedures for decreasing U.S. and global vulnerability to NEO impacts.โ€

The United States currently has three methods for deflecting any NEO from impacting Earth, Space.com says. Two of these would work by changing the course of an NEO through gravity or through impact, and the third would be a nuclear weapon to destroy the surface of an asteroid. It notes, however, that all three options would require a 10-year lead time.

The Space Force could potentially add new options to this by creating new sensors in space and new weapon options for destroying an object heading toward Earth.

https://apps.npr.org/documents/document.html?id=4406302-3-9-2018-Parade-Memo

The Pentagon says a military parade requested by President Trump will take place in Washington on Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the military from the Revolutionary War through today.

The document addressed to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff provides "initial guidance," including assurances that the display will not include tanks, to minimize damage to the city streets. The D.C. City Council had already tweeted its objections ("Tanks but No Tanks").

The memo does not estimate the cost, but as NPR has reported, estimates have suggested it would be between $3 million and $50 million. Tamara Keith and Tom Bowman reported that holding it on Veterans Day, which also commemorates the end of World War I, could reduce complaints:

"By potentially tying the parade to the 100th anniversary of the end of the 'War To End All Wars,' there may be an effort to associate with the tradition of celebrating war victories and avoid associations with countries like North Korea, China and Russia, which regularly hold military parades, in part for the propaganda value.

"Members of Congress from both parties have been critical of the idea of a military parade, questioning its cost and necessity."

The memo says the parade will begin at the White House and proceed to the U.S. Capitol, with a "heavy air component at the end." It notes that Trump will be surrounded by military heroes in the reviewing area at the Capitol.

well, lets say they take just 1% of the total amount of the grants:

10,000 kids = $56,000,000 ($56 million)

100,000 kids = $560,000,000 ($560 million)

1,000,000 kids = $5,600,000,000 ($5.6 million)

still a big damn amount
