The reason we don’t burn witches is because we don’t believe they exist. If we thought someone had sold their souls to the devil and gained the power to kill their neighbors without physically touching them, we would prosecute them, and if they really had these powers, would the judges and juries be safe? Just due to the fear factor, we might burn them for it same as if they used a gun.
