Secret Service are GS 18/11 federal agents.

They will probably release him into their custody.

He will be in USM custody while he is in the Courthouse though. That part is true.

He will probably be handcuffed and have leg irons and be placed into a holding tank following his inprocessing.

This now becomes a fight between DHS (Which now has SS detail instead of treasury) and DOJ (USM)

While he is in the Courthouse he will be under USM custody.

They will allow his SS detail to accompany but they will be primary because he is no longer a free citizen until the not guilty verdict comes in.

Do you have any idea how fucking serious we are about this now?

No, once an indictment comes out you are immediately placed into custody of USM once you self surrender.

He is voluntarily SELF SURRENDERING otherwise he would be arrested by USM and transported.

He will NOT be a free citizen because the judge will issue an order with release conditions.

This is known as PRE TRIAL RELEASE.

Please stop arguing with me about this, I've been to federal prison and know this process intimately.

A magistrate will oversee all pre trial matters i.e arraignment and release hearing which will both be rolled into one.

The trail judge won't be involved until pre trial motions are to be argued.

It's standard fare.

Magistrates aren't full federal judges that have to have senate approval.
