Versailles is noteworthy for a lot of different reasons, anon.

the jaded court of the Kings was so despised that the revolutionaries may have decided to burn the place to the ground but . . .

somehow it was noted that it was a national treasure so it wasn't burned down.

 

Paris has gone through lots and lots of turmoil over the centuries, and Versailles has survived through it all.
