A country that loses two to three generations of males in combat has a hard time rebuilding without outside assistance and becomes very open to immigration. Ask Germany, they know.
In a World where the native populations in the EU are telling Brussels they simply cannot take anymore immigrants, Ukraine provides a new place to put them. EU and US prints fiat in the name of funding the "rebuilding" and thus the people left are beholden to the Western Powers for their "humanitarian generosity."
