Reading up on ten explorers who faked their accomplishments for the public. It's really a "thing" apparently. According to the travel writer Jan / James Morris (pioneer trans-sexual and Intel Agent for Britain; P.S. GREAT WRITER) the explorer who actually is shown to have accomplished what was claimed - was made fun of and not accepted upon return from adventure, James Bruce of Scotland.
At least 10 of the heroes whom the public accepted, lied about their claims. The one who wasn't lying, James Bruce of Scotland, was rejected, according to Morris.
