The Roman soldiers were heathens, gentiles. They didn't know that Jesus was/is the Promised Messiah. The Messiah that God had promised. They at least had the excuse of being ignorant.

The Jewish leaders did not have that excuse.

They should have known better, but their arrogance kept them from seeing the Truth that was right in front of them.

Luke 23 NV

35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”

I know a lot of Catholic people, and I know a lot of Protestant people. Some of them, imo, are Christians, and some aren't. But, imo, the Catholics got it more mixed up than the Protestants do.

As for the Jews, idk, where they are coming from, but they had better wake up.
