Could be a safety net. DS has invested EVERYTHING against Trump, not against RFK. In a hypothetical, if Trump were to suddenly endorse RFK, and everyone of his supporters went to side with RFK, DS would probably initiate panic mode like we've never seen before because at that point, it'd be too late to even TRY to slander RFK. Or something.
