The former Bosasa boss Gavin Waston died in a tragic accident on the R21 in 2019. In recent years Mzansi has often questioned his death.

Former Bosasa Chief Exectutive Officer (CEO) Gavin Watson is trending as South Africans revisit his untimely death.
Waston was declared dead at 05:27 on 26 August 2019.
However, his death remains a typical Hollywood movie storyline.
Watson died on the R21 as it approaches OR Tambo International Airport.
What’s puzzling is the fact that the police who first arrived at the scene were alerted at 04:50 – only to arrive at the scene much later.
Reports have it that paramedics from a private company, Cape Medics, were the ones who were on the scene and did all the observation after they arrived around 05:16.
He was pronounced dead at 05:27 and no information about any attempt to resuscitate or treat Watson was mentioned in any report.
Sources from private paramedics and Johannesburg EMS revealed that they were told to turn back since Cape Medics were already on site.
At the accident scene, only a wallet was recovered with the personal identification cards of the former Bosasa boss.
Of interest, his phone was not found on the scene, only to be later traced to Germiston and Bryanston.
These are just some of the many questions Mzansi has yet to receive answers to.
Furthermore, police revealed that the Ekhuruleni Fire Department was on the scene to assist with cutting the vehicle to free Watson’s trapped body.
In light of this, how did the Cape Medics manage to thoroughly inspect a trapped body without proper access to it?
Mzansi questioned the accident scene, which was claimed was ‘clean’.
In the wake of Gavin Waston’s death, reports have it that a blame game ensued between family and friends over his alleged death.

After Bester’s now famous prison escape, South Africans have questioned whether Gavin Watson is in fact dead – or still alive.
According to TimesLIVE, upon his untimely death, Watson was investigated for the bribery of senior former government ministers and ex-officials from the correctional services department.
He died a day before he was set to testify before the tax evasion and money laundering inquiry.
One of the inquiries included his alleged smuggling of an estimated R500 million from South Africa.

We are very close to seeing a finalised police report into the matter. As IOL have stated, the Watson family are in possession of two vital documents: An accident expert report and a pathology report. But they still haven’t been able to resolve one of the most puzzling parts of this entire investigation.
Gavin Watson was declared dead at the end of August, after the former Bosasa CEO crashed his Toyota Corolla into a concrete pillar while travelling through Kempton Park. A lack of skid-marks or any attempt to prevent his fate suggests that the business supremo had died shortly before his car slammed into the structure.
Family want “phone issue” resolved
The investigation has had the opposite impact of what was intended: Instead of putting a few rumours to bed, this version of events only gives credence to some of the ludicrous theories doing the rounds. Some people believe that it failed to answer key questions – concerns have been raised about a “staged” crash and the mysterious identity of an alleged client who was meeting with Gavin Watson on the day.
However, those wild theories have taken a back seat. Jared Watson is Gavin’s nephew, and he works in law. The relative even helped compile the Bosasa chief’s case which was due to be heard at SARS, just 24 hours before his death. According to the younger Watson, the biggest unsolved issue on the table is that of his uncle’s cell phone.

It’s been well-documented that Gavin Watson’s phone was found to be “on the move” days after his death. Jared has confirmed the family discovered the same thing during their last attempt to trace the device. With the much-anticipated police report set to be released soon, this is one of the most pressing matters to answer:
“We are still waiting on the tracking data from the phone, as well as video evidence from before the accident, amongst other things. We’re trying to understand what was going on there. So we are waiting, we want the cops to give us the tracking information from the phone and call records and stuff like that,”
