I guess Modi hugs everyone. He seems pretty disarming, but I doubt that is true. KEK

Biden embraces Modi as the US intensifies its fight against Russia and China

A flurry of lucrative deals outlined during the Indian PM’s US visit as Washington tries to woo New Delhi to abandon its diplomatic balancing act

India has opted for a tight embrace with the US during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first state visit to the country, where potential economic gains appeared to outweigh its age-old ties with traditional ally, Russia.

Modi, during a joint address to the press corps at the White House after his one-on-one meeting with US President Joe Biden on Thursday, sprung a surprise.

Unprompted, he made reference to Russia’s ongoing military operation, which entered its second year on February 24.

Modi offered India’s help to resolve the conflict and restore peace, while stopping short of naming Russia as the aggressor. The comment was music to President Biden’s ears, whose usual impassive expression could not contain his uncontrolled glee.

Modi lapped up lavish praise from the Biden administration, as expectations of Indo-US ties “reaching escape velocity” rent the air and the Indian PM heightened the hyperbole by adding that the “sky is not the limit” in the bilateral engagement.

And, Russia did not top the agenda until Modi, as if on cue from Biden, spoke about the conflict with Ukraine.

It was abundantly clear that the US had laid out a red carpet for Modi in a bid to isolate New Delhi from Moscow, with bountiful incentives and path-breaking new partnerships in the defense, semiconductor manufacturing, space and artificial intelligence sectors. A liberalization of the strict H1B visa regime, as well as the opening of US consulates in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru and an Indian consulate in Seattle are also on the cards.

In a quid pro quo, placating India suited the US cause. Washington is looking to strengthen its crucial – albeit complicated – ties with the country, where the battle lines between the Western powers and the Russia and China-led blocs have been clearly demarcated. Biden, who like Modi is making a re-election bid next year, is willing to take his chances with India’s right-wing, Hindu nationalist, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

The Modi government’s 'human rights record' has drawn flak from Biden’s Democrat colleagues. However, he is willing to hedge his bets in a bid to cement Indo-US ties that appear to have come full circle from “estrangement to deepening engagement.”

Biden said he believes the bilateral ties “will be one of the defining relationships of the 21st century. Since I’ve become president, we’ve continued to build a relationship built on mutual trust, candor and respect.” (Man Bidan is so wrong about everything. EVERYTHING! Is Modi that powerful that this poor fool Bidan believes he will get credit?)

The Modi government, since it came to power in 2014, has been consistently criticized by multiple US officials and media for its record on political, religious and press freedoms. Despite that, the world's most populous democracy now appears to have emerged as the hottest destination for US companies following Washington’s rapidly worsening ties with China.

Both nations are battling a common enemy in an ascendent China, especially in the Indo-Pacific, coupled with other pressing global issues such as climate change, AI, supply chain resilience and other issues.

Biden stopped short of lecturing the Indian PM on alleged human rights violations – as announced earlier by the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan – while reminding Modi that the partnership must be “grounded on democracy, human rights, freedom and the rule of law.” Modi, for his part, broke a tradition on Thursday, which he has kept since he took office in 2014, by agreeing to take part in a formal press conference along with President Biden.

It was a historic occasion since theIndian PM is known to abhor unscripted moments,as he has only given a handful of interviews since he came to power. Typically, state visits include a news conference in which the leaders take questions from two members of the US press and two from the visiting press corps….

Bud Light’s new motto, “Embrace the Suck”

23 Jun, 2023 20:39

Bud Light maker excoriated for customer-mocking ad

Anheuser-Busch's latest campaign is catching flak following its earlier disastrous deal with a trans influencer

Bud Light manufacturer Anheuser-Busch was savaged on social media on Thursday over its most recent advertisement, which appeared to mock the same core market demographic it outraged months ago by partnering with controversial trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The ad depicts smiling clueless middle-class and almost exclusively white Americans attempting typical summer recreational activities despite an apparently poor grasp of the concepts of heat, light, liquids, and beverage cans. It ends by reassuring the audience that Bud Light is “Easy to Enjoy.”

The brand tweeted the ad out on Thursday, promising “we’ve got an epic summer ahead,”and was promptly blasted, with =•over 23,600 comments== compared to just 1,764 “likes” as of Friday afternoon. Many Twitter users demanded apologies from the brand for its mockery of “regular Americans,” women, and the brand's “existing, 'fratty' customer base.”One response featured a photoshopped version of the ad reading, “Easy to drink. Easier to boycott.”

In an SEC filing last week, Anheuser-Busch acknowledged “the discussion surrounding our company and Bud Light has moved away from beer and this has impacted our consumers, our business partners and our employees.”

Anheuser-Busch has lost $27 billion in market capitalin two months. Bud Light’s core “middle America” demographic began boycotting the brand in April in response to its partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which included a custom can emblazoned with the actor’s face and a promotional spot featuring Mulvaney in a bathtub.

Sales of the brand remain down by 26.8% over the same period last year, and the slump has affected other Anheuser-Busch beers including Michelob Ultra and Budweiser. Alissa Heinerscheid, the marketing VP responsible for the disastrous promotion and once hyped for her status as the first woman to lead the formerly “fratty” brand, has taken a leave of absence from the company.

Pledging investment to “protect the jobs of our frontline employees,” Anheuser-Busch said in its SEC filing that it would provide “financial assistance” to wholesalers– many of whom have been hit hard by the customer boycott – and promised the summer’s advertising would be devoted to “reinforcing what you’ve always loved about our brand – that it’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy.”

Earlier this week, Anheuser-Busch’s chief marketing officer, Marcel Marcondes, received the ‘Creative Marketer of the Year’ award at the Cannes Lions – considered the ‘Oscars of advertising.' While the award was announced prior to the Mulvaney affair,Marcondes described the ad disaster as “an important wake-up call to all of us marketers first of all to be very humble.” He promised the brand would focus on customer appreciation going forward, “in a way that can make [consumers] be together, not apart.”

(Wow they really didn’t learn any lessons, the Elite never do, because they truly believe they are superior.Personally I think the company is consciously trying to crash and burn Bud Light for a major tax write off in 2024! There’s no way to save it, so insult people more!I watched the commercial and I didn’t pick up on what people were complaining about, but I don’t drink beer, didn’t set well with my stomach. Kek)

US charges Chinese companies in fentanyl sting

A Wuhan-based biotech firm has been accused of smuggling the drug’s precursor chemicals

The US Department of Justice on Friday unsealed threefederal indictments against four Chinese companies and eight individuals, alleging they had manufactured and supplied precursor chemicals for the lethal drug fentanyl. One indictment claims the defendants were in league with the Mexican drug cartels.

“Today, we target the very beginning of the fentanyl supply chain: the Chinese manufacturers of the raw chemicals used to make fentanyl and its analogues,”Damian Williams, US attorney for the Southern District of New York, (SDNY) said in a statement.

The SDNY indictment chargesAmarvel Biotechwith “fentanyl trafficking, precursor chemical importation, and money laundering.”Amarvel is based in Wuhan, in Hubei province.(anons please search NIH for any contracts of these company that Fauci may have given out)

Two Amarvel employees, Qingzhou ‘Bruce’ Wang and Yiyi ‘Chiron’ Chen, were arrested earlier this month. They were expelled from Fiji on June 8, arrested by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and appeared before a federal judge in Hawaii on June 9. The suspects are currently in a Honolulu jail. A third named employee, Fnu Lu ‘Anita’ Yang, remains at large. All three are Chinese nationals.

Williams described Wang and Chen as “a corporate executive and a marketing manager”and said they were “in American handcuffs. And they’re going to face justice in an American courtroom.”

According to the US government, Amarvel has “openly advertised” deliveries of fentanyl precursor chemicals to the US and Mexico, including the city of Culiacan, home of the notorious Sinaloa Cartel. The company has also allegedly advertised using deceptive packaging, labeling the contents as “dog food, nuts, or motor oil” to avoid detection.

The indictment claims Amarvel shipped approximately 999.7 grams of 1-boc-4-AP, approximately 1,002.6 grams of 1-boc-4-piperidone – both fentanyl precursors – and approximately 893.6 grams of the methamphetamine precursor methylamine, from China to New York, in exchange for payments in cryptocurrency. They interacted with at least two DEA confidential sources during the eight-month-long undercover investigation.

The DEA ended up confiscating more than 200kg of fentanyl-related precursor chemicals, enough to manufacture up to 55kg of the drug, described as “enough deadly doses to kill 25 million Americans.” (200kg = 7055 ounces = 445 pounds)

The Eastern District of New York unsealed two more indictments on Friday. One charged Anhui Rencheng Technology Co. Ltd. and Anhui Moker New Material Technology Co., as well as Shutong Wang and Shifang ‘Eva’ Ruan, with “conspiracy to manufacture and distribute fentanyl, manufacture of fentanyl” and related offenses, as well as conspiracy to distribute the controlled substance butonitazene. Two more Chinese nationals, Xinyu ‘Sarah’ Zhao and Yue ‘Ellie’ Gao, were charged with customs fraud and mislabeling of drugs. The second indictment chargesHebei Gesuke Trading Co. Ltd. and Ruiqing Liwith similar offenses.

The companies involved allegedly added “masking” molecules to their fentanyl precursors, slightly altering the chemical signature to evade testing protocols and relevant regulations. The US government alleges they also provided instructions to buyers on how to remove the masking molecules upon receipt, and improve fentanyl yield from the precursors provided.

Fentanyl is a highly addictive synthetic opioid, considered 50 times more potent than heroin.

(What a coincidence the virus comes from Wuhan and Fentanyl precursor comes from Wuhan. It sounds like a Fauci plan! There’s something weird about this)

NATO must urgently protect Kosovo Serbs – Belgrade

Serbia’s top general says the army is ready to act if the order is given

Serbsin Kosovo areunder attackby the ethnic Albanian government in Pristina andNATO’s KFOR peacekeepers have a duty to stop it, General Milan Mojsilovic, the head of the Serbian General Staff, said on Friday.

“The Pristina regime of [PM] Albin Kurti is carrying out a horrible pogrom against the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija.Serbs are targeted every day, solely because of their names, and becausethey do not want to leave their ancestral homes. The terror of Kurti’s regime is becoming physically unbearable,”Mojsilovic said in a brief televised address.

Belgrade is “following the events with great concern, anddemands urgent measures to protect the Serbs and their right to exist,” he added.

Asking KFOR and all other international institutionsin the breakaway provinceto act, Mojsilovic noted thatSerbia has carried out all of its obligationsunder UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the Kumanovo military-technical agreement, and others, “but it is clear today thatthe international community has not fulfilled theirs.”

If ordered, theSerbian Army will “carry out its mission to the fullest,” in accordance with the constitution and the UN Charter, Mojsilovic said, ending the two-minute address without taking questions.

Serbia’s top general met with President Aleksandar Vucic earlier in the day, followingthe violent arrest of yet another Serbin the north of Kosovo and the appearance of videos on social media showing heavily armed ethnic Albanian troops deploying near the town of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Kurti’s government hasdetained more than a dozen ethnic Serbsin recent weeks. Pristina has presented the arrests as enforcing the ‘rule of law’ on the entire territory of Kosovo. Belgrade has described them as a ‘hybrid war’ intended to intimidate the local community and condoned by the West.

Meanwhile, theUS and EU have demanded the unconditional release of three ethnic Albanian ‘special police’ who were detained on the Serbian side of the administrative line last week.

NATO took control of Kosovo in 1999, after waging a 78-day air war against Serbia on behalf of ethnic Albanian separatists. Though UNSCR 1244 affirmed Serbia’s territorial integrity, the provisional government in Pristina declared independence in 2008. Belgrade’s refusal to recognize the secession has been supported by about half of the world’s countries, including Russia, China, and India.

(US, EU, NATO and UN won’t help because Serbia is staying neutral on Russia sanctions and not sending arms to Ukraine. This is the war the Clintons started to distract from his impeachment!)
