Here's a story going around. Ukrainian intel got to some Wagner solders and then to Prigozhin. Prigozhin listened to them saying big money was involved and then called Putin on a secure line. Whether it was Putin or Prigozhin who suggested it, a plan was hatched. This happened a couple months ago.
So Prigozhin showed interest while playing games with the Russian military. Prigozhin said to the Ukrain intel guy/people who is going to pay the money and how much. CIA agents showed up and they bartered and settled on the amount of $6.2 billions. The CIA had to get it so it went to headquarters in DC. Voila, the accounting department found that the U.S. had shorted $6.2 billion from Ukraine via accounting error of using new prices for used war equipment.

Pentagon revises Ukraine aid ‘accounting error’
The “recaptured” funds will go toward future weapons packages for Kiev, officials say
The US military has said it overestimated the value of arms transferred to Ukraine by more than $6 billion over the last two years, more than doubling the Pentagon’s original assessment first disclosed in earlier this year.
Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh revised the figure during a Tuesday press conference, telling reporters that US aid was overvalued by $6.2 billion, including $2.6 billion last year and another $3.6 billion in 2023.
“In a significant number of cases, services used replacement costs rather than net book value, thereby overestimating the value of the equipment drawn down from US stocks and provided to Ukraine,” she said.

Wagner boss denies talking to Kiev about selling out Russian troops
An alleged meeting with Ukrainian intel agents in Africa would have been “physically impossible” for him to attend, Evgeny Prigozhin has claimed
The head of Russia's Wagner private military company, Evgeny Prigozhin, has claimed it would have been “physically impossible” for him to meet with Ukrainian military intelligence agents in Africa to make a treasonous proposal to them. The alleged contacts were reported by the Washington Post based onpurported leaks from the Pentagon.
The outlet claimed on Sunday that classified US documents, which made their way to the public through a Discord server, claim there had been communication between Prigozhin and Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR).
The Wagner head allegedly sought to have Ukrainian troops withdraw from the area around the bitterly contested city of Artyomovsk (known in Ukraine as Bakhmut) in order to ease the pressure on his own troops for a while, in exchange for information on Russian troop positions elsewhere. The alleged contacts were said to take place by phone and an in-person meeting in Africa, where the Wagner Group is also
Prigozhin dismissed the report as “speculation dumped by the Washington Post” and insisted he had not been to Africa since months before the hostilities in Ukraine broke out in February 2022. He suggested that the newspaper was overstating the supposed intel or had fallen victim to planted disinformation.
The Post said two Ukrainian officials confirmed the contacts between Prigozhin and the GUR, but when the newspaper asked Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about them, he appeared to be angered and demanded to know who the sources in his government were.
