In the '80s in the US the media used to complain that Ronald Reagan had a way of 'speaking directly to the people'. It troubled the media because they could not spin or 'help the public understand' what the President said. The media whined that POTUS 'talked over the heads' of the media and effectively cut out the middleman. President Trump does that exceptionally well.
