i have been trying to get more info on the aircraft Wagner shot down, this is the most detail i have found yet. Prigozhin is unhappy with Russian military leadership including Shoigu and Gerasimov, it sounds like he took a few out when he downed the flying command post.

thank you baker

why i think it's notable

While the mutiny was short-lived, it was not without bloodshed. Multiple media sources have reported that Wagner forces shot down many military aircraft, resulting in the deaths of at least 15.

The Wagner fighters brought down a total of six Russian military aircraft. The targets included five helicopters, an Ilyushin Il-22M Coot aerial command post, and a radio-relay plane.

Amid the ongoing Ukraine war, the command post and relay plane’s downing is described as the “biggest loss for the Russian air force” by experts and analysts.

A video, which surfaced online, captures the Il-22M aircraft engulfed in flames, descending uncontrollably toward the ground near Voronezh.

According to reports, Prigozhin expressed dissatisfaction with the incident and referred to one individual within the mercenary convoy as a “fool” who indiscriminately fired at any airborne object.

so it turns out

those Storm Shadow cruisers from the UK

have to be programmed by British nationals (military contractors in Ukraine, ahem)

who were at the airbase when it got kalibrated.

"The Storm Shadows are stored at the airbase, and numerous British personnel supporting UAF Storm Shadow operations likely work at the airfield.

Earlier, on May 29, 2023, Russia had struck the airbase. According to official Ukrainian sources, five aircraft and fuel & ammunition depots were put out of action; the runway was seriously damaged.

Following the attack, there were rumors that some British personnel had to be evacuated from the airbase due to serious injuries sustained during the attack.

Following the attack, Ukraine’s Storm Shadow attacks had reduced noticeably."

"At Khmelnytskyi, Storm Shadow missiles are loaded and programmed to strike their targets by British personnel."
