Stollen (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtɔlən] (listen) or [ʃtɔln] (listen)) is a fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar and often containing marzipan. It is a traditional German Christmas bread. During the Christmas season the cake-like loaves are called Weihnachtsstollen (after "Weihnachten", the German word for Christmas) or Christstollen (after Christ).
Stolin (Belarusian: Столін; Russian: Столин; Ukrainian: Столін; Polish: Stolin; Yiddish: סטולין) is a town in Brest Region, Belarus, and the administrative center of Stolin District, the largest district in the region. It has a population of 10,491 people (2012). It is located 15 km (9 mi) from the Belarus–Ukraine border, so Stolin is now a border city that hosts many Ukrainians on market days. Russian speech is common here, but villagers prefer their own dialects that are akin partly to the Belarusian language, partly the Ukrainian language.
