Tucker Carlson Steps Back Through the Looking Glass to Discuss Admiral Rachael Levine on the Other Side

July 1, 2023 | Sundance

Unfortunately, Tucker Carlson has chosen the Twitter platform as the outlet for his monologue broadcasts. Twitter is now restricting viewers of the platform to only registered user accounts. As a result,Carlson’s message is now restricted by DHS monitorsas the audience is filtered.

However, if you enjoy the Carlson discussions, several people are transferring the content onto shareable platforms that do not have Homeland Security restrictive oversight and direct FBI and Intelligence Community control mechanisms. {Direct Rumble Link}

US media giant fires managers who ordered ‘balanced’ news

Nexstar has axed two staffers at a Michigan NBC affiliate for directing reporters to tell “both sides” of Pride Month stories

Two managers at the NBC News affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan, have lost their jobs for daring to tell staffers to provide unbiased coverage of Pride Month events and suggesting that stories related toLGBTQ issues could be “polarizing” for the station’s largely conservative audience.

WOOD-TV news director Stanton Tang and his deputy, Amy Fox, were fired on Thursday following a two-week investigation by the outlet’s parent company, Nexstar Media Group, according to multiple media reports. Two other newsroom employees – executive producerLuke Stier and producer Madeline Odle– were jettisoned after Nexstar concluded that they hadleaked the internal coverage memo that led to the controversy.

Texas-based Nexstar is the biggest US operator of broadcast television outlets, boasting 200 stations around the country.

The row at WOOD-TV began earlier this month, when Tang directed Fox to write and distribute a memo on the station’s coverage of Pride Month events. The memo warned that some reports on Pride-themed events “are going to be controversial and polarizing in our community,” adding that “while you personally may not agree with a certain position, people are entitled to their opinions, and they are our viewers.”

Tang’s directive noted that not every Pride Month event needed to be covered, and it urged employees to be “thoughtful” about which stories they chose to pursue. “We need to do some work to discern the newsworthiness of the event. If we are covering Pride events, we need to consider how to make the story balanced and get both sides of the issue.”

Several WOOD-TV staffers walked out when the memo was distributed on June 13.Stier took to Twitter two days later, saying, “This memo was met with immediate pushback from our newsroom. The guidance is not being followed.” News anchor Michele DeSelms replied by saying staffers were essentially being required to “give equal time to hate and discrimination.” She added, “We said no and will continue to fight for our LGBTQ colleagues, family members, friends and the community.”

Nexstar spokesman Gary Weitman released a statement earlier this month apologizing for the memo and saying that it wasnot consistent with the company’s values. “Diversity, equity and inclusion are among Nexstar’s core values,” he said. “Our local TV stations are expected to cover and report the news of the day in an expansive and inclusive fashion, consistent with these values.”

(Time to boycott Nexstar stations now. Twitter anons get the word out. Can we find the list of the 200 stations? All this announcement did is prove they were never fair and unbiased!)

Kiev lashes out at Orban

The Hungarian PM’s assessment that Ukraine is bound to fail in the conflict with Russia is “pointless” talk, Dmitry Kuleba has said

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has dismissed remarks made by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban earlier this week about Kiev’s lack of prospects in the conflict with Moscow as “pointless” talk. Orban had declared that a Ukrainian victory was “impossible” and that the belief that continuous Western aid to the country would somehow change the outcome was “a misunderstanding of the situation.”

Speaking to the German tabloid Bild in an interview published on Saturday, Kuleba firmly rejected Orban's assessment.

“I’m tired of refuting these pointless arguments. We’ve been hearing from the beginning that Ukraine is doomed. Every time we’re successful on the battlefield, those voices get quieter, but then they come back. It’s all just blah, blah, blah,” Kuleba stated, adding while Kiev is moving towards “victory,”people like Orban are merely advancing their “narratives.” (They haven’t been successful on the battlefield, not in any major situations and no successes. Their propaganda is losing, thats why he is pissed. The narratives are true, Ukraine is losing and will ultimately lose, what are they gonna say then? They’ll still deny it!)

The Hungarian prime minister has been a vocal critic of Western military and financial aid to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia. Speaking to Bild earlier this week, Orban reiterated his call for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which he believes is the only way to avoid the loss of “a huge amount of wealth and many lives, and unimaginable destruction”being inflicted on Ukraine.

“I stand on the grounds of reality. The reality is that the nature of cooperation between Ukraine and the West is a failure,” Orban stated, adding that believing that weapons, funding and intelligence support provided to Kiev would allow it to win was “a misunderstanding of the situation.”

Hungary has taken an explicitly neutral stance on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Unlike most EU and NATO members, the country has refused to provide any military aid to Kiev and has even prohibited the flow of arms from third parties to Ukraine through its territory.

Budapest has also consistently opposed the EU’s sanctions on Russia, particularly those that damage its own vital interests, such as the restrictions on the conventional and nuclear energy sectors. Hungary has insisted that the measures have failed to reach their proclaimed goals, ultimately harming the EU more than Russia.

(Kuleba looks like a giant baby head without a brain.)

Finnish economic minister resigns over ‘climate abortions’ speech

Vilhelm Junnila said he was stepping down to spare the country’s reputation after half a dozen scandals surfaced in just one week

Finnish Economic Affairs Minister Vilhelm Junnila resigned on Friday after a speech he had given as a freshman MP resurfaced. In the address, he recommended the =•country sponsors “climate abortions” for African women== in order to save the planet.

“It would be justified for Finland to shoulder its responsibility by promoting climate abortions,”the Finns Party politician declared in 2019, quipping “Climate abortion would be a small step for a person, but a giant leap for humanity.” The party is known for its opposition to the idea that Finns should have to dramatically alter their lifestyles to fight climate change and argues they already pollute markedly less than their European peers.

Apparently taking the comments at face value, Christian Democrat MP Paivi Rasanen accused Junnila of promoting an “eco-fascist”concept even “without the racist connection.”Eco-fascism, she reminded her governing coalition partner, is “also an extremist movement.”

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto described the situation as “very embarrassing,” while Anna-Maja Henriksson, head of the Swedish People’s Party, another partner in the coalition, praised Junnila’s “wise decision” to step down.

Junnila explained he resigned to save Finland’s reputation, insisting he retained “the trust of the party and my parliamentary group”even as accusations continued to mount. Earlier on Friday, public broadcaster Yle reportedhe had never taken any political science courses at universitydespite claiming to have studied the subject – nor did there appear to be any factual basis to claims on his website and in election materials that he had founded and sold a Polish tech startup before entering politics.

No sooner had Junnila been sworn in to his position last Tuesday, than Euronews reported his appearance at a 2019 event organized by far-right groups which one researcher described as a “who’s-who of neo-Nazis in Finland.” The scandals have not stopped piling up since then, culminating in a vote of confidence on Wednesday which he narrowly won, 95-86, even as Prime Minster Petteri Orpo warned him he had to change his behavior to keep serving in the cabinet.

Junnila publicly apologized for attending the event, as well as for a series of“stupid and childish” Hitler and Nazi jokesand other comments his critics had unearthed. Several Facebook messages to his parliamentary assistant also made headlines, including a meme of asnowman dressed in a Ku Klux Klan hoodholding a noose.

The government Finland elected this year has been called the most conservative the country has seen in modern times. Run by a coalition dominated by the right-wing National Coalition Party, which won the most seats in Parliament, and Junnila’s far-right Finns Party, it has de-emphasized climate commitments while slashing international aid, placing restrictions on immigration, and cutting benefits, representing an abrupt shift away from the center-left government of former PM Sanna Marin.

(Finland has their own George Santos, but our Santos us funnier)

Supreme Court spikes Biden’s student loan amnesty

The US president has promised to offer borrowers relief through other programs, but the clock on repayment restarts in September

The US Supreme Court blocked President Joe Biden’s effort to cancel $430 billion in student loan debt on Friday, ruling theWhite House did not have the authorityto unilaterally forgive the educational debts of 26 million Americans under the Covid-19 emergency loan forgiveness program his lawyers had cited.

The court ruled 6-3 in favor of six Republican-led states that sued the White House for overstepping its authority under federal law with the debt forgiveness plan it unveiled in August. The votes were split along ideological lines with the three liberal judges dissenting.

Writing for the majority, Chief Justice JohnRoberts rejected the administration’s claimthat the program wasmerely a “modification” of the existing Covid-19 emergency loan program and thus authorized under a 2003 law allowing the education secretary to “waive or modify”student financial aid during national emergencies.

The [Secretary of Education’s] plan has ‘modified’ the cited provisions only in the same sense that the French Revolution ‘modified’ the status of the French nobility – it has abolished them and supplanted them with a new regime entirely,” Roberts wrote, explaining congressional approval would be required for the changes to be carried out – a non-starter even before Republicans took control of the House in the midterms. (Epic comparison by Roberts)

Biden condemned the court’s decision as “wrong” and “a mistake,” and promised relief was still coming in the form of the Higher Education Act. That 1965 law allows the education secretary to “compromise, waive, or release any right, title, claim, lien, or demand, however acquired,” even in the absence of a national emergency.

While the administration has promised to move “as quickly as possible,” the new program could take until the end of the year to set up, meaning thatin September, aboutone in every eight Americansmust return to makingloan paymentsthey have been spared since the pandemic.

Biden revealed a set of stopgap measures on Friday, including a decrease in monthly payments from 10% of discretionary income to 5% and loan forgiveness for any borrower with less than $12,000 in unpaid balance after ten years of payments. An “on-ramp repayment program” would protect financially-struggling borrowers from the threat of collection agencies and trashed credit scores during a one-year grace period. The White House has nevertheless urged those who can to repay their loans.

The president’s original student loan forgiveness program, touted as a central plank of his 2020 campaign platform, would have canceled up to $20,000 in federal Pell Grants and $10,000 in other loans for all borrowers making less than $125,000 annually. Opponents of the program argued it unfairly punished those who had responsibly paid back what they borrowed.
