July 2, 2023 @ 23:20 UTC (UPDATED)
AR 3354 produced an X1.0 solar flare peaking at 23:14 UTC (July 2). It is still too early to tell if the event produced a coronal mass ejection (CME), however a further update will be provided whenever necessary. The big active region continues to move closer towards the northwest limb and is no longer in a great position for Earth directed eruptions. Move to follow.
UPDATE: Although a bright flare, the event does not appear to have launched a CME into space. Other than the strong (R3) radio blackout which occurred during the flare peak, no major impacts should be expected.
