Remains of decapitated goats found behind Burger King in New York, SPCA described incident as 'ritualistic sacrifice'

Officials from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals described a gruesome discovery in Farmingdale, New York, as a "ritualistic sacrifice."

The remains of two headless goats were found in black plastic bags behind a Burger King on Broadhollow Road on Thursday, according to police.

Detectives with Suffolk County’s SPCA said that other items found at the scene also supported the idea of a ritualistic sacrifice.

Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that they were offering a reward of $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of whoever was responsible for what he called a "barbaric act of animal cruelty for unjustifiably harming, mutilating, or killing an animal."

A photograph from the Suffolk County SPCA showed the black plastic bags in a pile on a shaded grass area near what appeared to be a parking lot.

This is not the first time the SPCA has identified a bizarre discovery as a ritual sacrifice.

In Sept. 2022, SPCA officials decried the discovery of the remains of five decapitated chickens and two decapitated goats at a site near the Northern State Parkway. The decomposing remains discovered in that incident were also found in black plastic bags. Fruits and vegetables were also found in the bags.

The site of the 2022 incident in Melville was only about 5 miles away from the latest incident in Farmingdale.

“All too many times these gruesome finds are discovered not only by adults but occasionally by children," said Gross of the latest incident. "These acts of violence must stop now.”

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Suffolk County SPCA.

Airport chaos as passport processing system crashes nationwide

Travellers are reporting standing in line for hours because of delays.

Travellers are reporting lengthy delays at check-in for international flights at Australian airports nationwide due to a major outage.

Some holidaymakers say they have been stuck in line for hours, waiting for their passports to be processed on Thursday, as an outage hits the visa scanning technology for travellers leaving Australia.

An Australian Border Force spokesperson confirmed its service provider who manages the Advanced Passenger Processing systems — the system that confirms with the airline that a traveller has the authority and proper documents to leave the country before they board — is experiencing an IT outage.

“The system outage is affecting the APP in all international check-in points,” they told 7NEWS.com.au.

“We are working with the service provider to assist with resolving the matter urgently.”

One traveller at Brisbane Airport slammed the wait as “shameful”.

“Passengers have been waiting 4 hours in lines standing up because of the ‘advanced’ immigration security system … shameful international standards,” they tweeted.

Another traveller leaving Brisbane said: “Nationwide outage of passport system at check-in at Brisbane Airport. Not sure how long our flight is delayed til.”

A holidaymaker also reported “long queues” were forming earlier on Thursday morning at Melbourne Airport.

ABF staff will manually process passengers where applicable.

Japan’s largest port stops operations after ransomware attack

The Port of Nagoya, the largest and busiest port in Japan, has been targeted in a ransomware attack that currently impacts the operation of container terminals.

The port accounts for roughly 10% of Japan's total trade volume. It operates 21 piers and 290 berths. It handles over two million containers and cargo tonnage of 165 million every year.

The port is also used by the Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the world’s largest automakers, to export most of its cars.

Container processing halted

Today, the administrative authority of the Port of Nagoya has issued a notice about a malfunction in the “Nagoya Port Unified Terminal System” (NUTS) — the central system controlling all container terminals in the port.

According to the notice, the problem was caused by a ransomware attack that occurred on July 4, 2023, around 06:30 AM local time.

“Upon investigating the cause, we held a meeting with the Nagoya Port Operation Association Terminal Committee, who operates the system, and the Aichi Prefectural Police Headquarters [and] it was discovered that the issue was a ransomware infection.” — Nagoya Port (machine translated)

The port authority is working to restore the NUTS system by 6 PM today and plans to resume operations by 08:30 AM tomorrow.

Until then, all container loading and unloading operations at the terminals using trailers have been canceled, causing massive financial losses to the port and severe disruption to the circulation of goods to and from Japan.

The Nagoya Port Authority has dealt with cyberattacks before but it appears that this one has the largest impact. On September 6, 2022, the website of the port was unreachable for about 40 minutes due to a massive distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) launched by the pro-Russian group Killnet.

At the time of publishing, the threat actor behind the ransomware attack on the Port of Nagoya remains unknown as no threat actor has claimed the intrusion publicly, yet.

Maryland Republican Dan Cox Says Someone Committed Fraud By Filing Election Paperwork In His Name

Former Maryland gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox on July 3 said that someone had falsely filed paperwork in his name to run for his state’s 6th Congressional District.

“I have not filed. We’ve reported this matter to the FEC for fraud,” Cox wrote on Twitter.

“I have made no such filing and Valerie and I have made no decision yet,” the former state delegate wrote in an earlier statement on Facebook. “Apparently a far left new Delegate from Montgomery County has issued a press release that I’ve filed and apparently media says someone has filed my name. I did not do so and intend to take action to find out who did.”

Currently, Maryland’s 6th District is represented by third-term Rep. David Trone (D-Md.).

In May, Trone announced that he would be vacating the seat to run for Sen. Ben Cardin’s (D-Md.) Senate seat upon Cardin’s retirement at the end of his current term.

Cox, a former state delegate, received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump in his 2022 bid for the governorship. Although Cox defeated the more moderate Kelly Schulz in the GOP primary, he was ultimately routed by the state’s current Democrat Gov. Wes Moore.

Prior to running for governor, Cox sought Maryland’s 8th Congressional District seat in 2016. After winning the primary, he lost that race to Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cox was a vocal critic of former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s policies, which included mask mandates and stay-at-home orders.

In the state’s General Assembly, he introduced articles of impeachment against Hogan, but they were ultimately rejected by members of his own party.

Although he did not challenge the results of the 2022 election, Cox asked the U.S. Supreme Court in January to reverse an emergency state court order issued prior to the election that suspended parts of Maryland’s election law forbidding the early counting of mail-in ballots.

The court order, Cox held, violated the Elections Clause of the U.S. Constitution in allowing ballots to be opened more than a month prior to Election Day.

“Mr. Cox was the only elected official who saw an issue with what the Board of Elections was doing,” Cox’s attorney, Ed Hartman, told The Epoch Times in February.

DOJ Releases Previously Redacted Information in Trump Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant Affidavit

Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart approved new aspects of the Trump Mar-a-Lago search warrant to be unsealed.

Last August the Biden Justice Department released a highly redacted Trump raid affidavit.

Media organizations asked to unseal the affidavit in support of the search warrant.

Only a redacted version was previously unsealed.

“The Government agreed that a redacted version of the Response could be unsealed without compromising legitimate governmental interests,” Bruce Reinhart wrote in his order on motion to unseal.

New information released from the search affidavit reveals surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago shows Trump’s aide Walt Nauta moving boxes of documents a few days before the DOJ visited the Florida residence.

So?

Trump never destroyed any subpoenaed documents.

In contrast, Hillary Clinton used BleachBit to destroy 33,000 emails and she destroyed 7 BlackBerrys – all of which were under subpoena.

Hillary Clinton was never indicted on federal charges for destroying her emails and BlackBerrys.

Walt Nauta was indicted along with Trump in Jack Smith’s classified documents case. He is set to appear in court this Thursday for his arraignment where he will plead not guilty.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Surveillance footage from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort showed his personal aide, Walt Nauta, moving dozens of boxes in the days before Justice Department investigators visited the property in June 2022 to retrieve records, according to newly unredacted portions of the FBI’s request for a warrant to search the property.

That footage was among the evidence the Justice Department used to justify its unprecedented search of the former president’s residence, Mar-a-Lago, two months later, in August 2022, according to the new details of the warrant application, made public late Wednesday.
