House Oversight panel seeks briefing from Secret Service on cocaine found in White House

The House Oversight Committee is in the process of requesting a briefing from the Secret Service on the cocaine that was found in the West Wing of the White House on Sunday night, a spokesperson for the committee confirmed.

The briefing will be on the Secret Service’s security procedures at the White House because Congress funds the security processes the Secret Service uses before people enter the White House grounds, the spokesperson said.

In a letter to the Office of Special Counsel, Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), cofounder of the Senate Whistleblower Protection Caucus, and Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Ranking Member Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), along with House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), outlined the rights and protections provided to whistleblowers under the law.
