I disagree.
people need to learn about what the computer is needed for and how it works, and be allowed to hack it and monitor it.
we should be able to know what it's montioring, what connects to it, and be allowed to view the data so we can tell, in real time, if there are issues with our rig.
and be allowed to replace it.
a well known interface should be published, and the software should be open sourced.
computer boards are rather cheep excep tht the corporations lock them up and don't allow root access.
that should be considered a violation of anti trust.
decouple the manufacturer from your choice of on-board controller and open source it.
as many mods as you want, and as new as it needs to be.
