>I'm keeping my old 90s Dodge pickup trucks. We won't be using EVs where I live, too rural, no infrastructure to support EVs

Can you imagine running a farm with an electric pickup? Blading snow, pulling implements, hauling feed and seed? Pfft

t. mid '80's, early 90's 4WD F-350 long bed crew cabs with turbo's on the (new) 7.3L IDI crate motors.. C6 for the wife, 5spd ZF for me.

It's 25 miles to the nearest stop sign on a gravel road out in the sagebrush. When people ask how far something is we tell them how many hours, not how many miles. My county is larger than 8 states. 'Lectric won't cut it here.

>take a 7 hour detour

If I'm pulling a trailer any distance I take the old pickup with a 75ga jump tank. With the two saddle tanks I can almost go 2,000 miles if the load isn't too heavy. I used to go to California, spend a few days on business and come home without fueling or spending a dime there.

> I imagine you have to stockup on supply whenever you do need to commute to the nearest stores.

I go to town about twice a month. Some of the ranchers farther out often go just in spring and fall most years.

>The reason they want to mandate EVs for everyone is to force people to move out of rural areas. However I don't think Americans will put up with that,

You're right, we'll hoard our diesel and ride horses more. I keep an old VW around I can convert to alcohol as we have corn. Lots of corn.
