I have parked box of XP for 32bit video workstation and parked box of 7 for the 64 bit of the same.
These older hardware/software get more work done than MODERN NEW BOXES

They have to stay on top of/or ignore patches + while opening system up for publishing and network exploits.
The last windows I touched was win 7 and I had several boxes I tried to what I call "defang" from updates and microsoft, I had luck with Two out of three in windows 7 there was always one that STOPPED WORKING when I pulled that last string on it. I had to RESTORE these boxes and keep them offline or they are something else now. it's been awhile.
in XP I "defanged" it no problem. I don't think there's an XP box I can't defang isolate and enjoy the web with.
Yeah it's not just firefox but My OLD boxes don't have those browsers. or I Crippled what is left of them, either way mitigated.
But Othersoftware wants to update too that's true. tell each an every one no. it will probably take year or more to build a box like this.
You have to know your system bottom line.
The old boxes won't RUN those because of the Certificates or some shit, it's moot I only need the OLD box for PRODUCTION and NETWORK SHARE. Perhaps a Web download of a software or patch. but they got work around browsers even in 2023, Or software can simply be Upploaded / disc'd in. I won't even entertain doing ecomerce on such a box, but their workflow can' t be beat in Media. (the fly in the ointment is the network mitigation)
