>Does the Gov tax Loans - NO

>Does the gov make loans?

uhmm….

The gov't does not tax loans.

Yes, the gov't does make loans.

  • I managed several loan programs for my local county (as a county employee). The funds were typically grant applciation by us (the local board of county commissioners) that we then repackaged as low interest loans.

The grants were from HUD, DOE, USDA.

We also acted as a pass through for what are called Industrial Development Bonds, aka TAX FREE REVENUE BONDS. The tax in this case is not on the borrower but on the investor that would receive a monthly fixed income off the bond….where that is normally taxed (i.e. you buy a corporate bond issuance at 8%), in this case, the 8% income is NOT taxed - hence the name or reference: TAX FREE REVENUE BOND.

Hope that helped.
