so - i don't want to appeal to a false sense of authority, but i uh, work with cellular technology on a regular basis. please take my words with a grain of salt - believe it or not, while some towers have microwave hops on them, a) microwaves aren't used to measure phone location or poll gps, b) most companies in the industry never used signal triangulation for location-based anything (paid service or e911) because it's terribly inaccurate - it's usually handset-based (otherwise app based) and c) GPS coordinates are (in most cases) pushed by the phone, not polled by the network.

IF you're in an urban environment, you might have four or more towers within 2 miles, but that's only to add density to the network, and the antennas are tilted down to prevent interference (to jam more, smaller cells in) and increase capacity...meaning that simply seeing the tower doesn't mean it's propagating directly at you...and if you're in a rural environment, forget it. you're lucky if you have three sites (depending on your carrier) within ten miles.

i'm more paranoid than the next guy, but this flyer SCREAMS disinfo.

IF there is a government sponsored clandestine network, it is NOT on every tower, and it's certainly not on every carrier.

on top of which, 2400 and 2550 are common microwave OVEN frequencies, and while they can be used for backhaul, it's unlicensed spectrum, meaning that ANYONE can fire a m/w beam on this frequency...which means interference is more than likely, and usually isn't used by commercial carriers unless absolutely necessary.

whew.

sorry. file that under "some guy on the internet told me once".
