When they need extras for a movie (background people to make it look like the actors are in a real restaurant or whatever the scene requires..) they call those "cattle calls" and they treat the extras like total shit. Get paid $100-$150 for the day. Aspiring actors do it to build their resume bc u need to be familiar with how things work on a set, etc.. then u work your way up to a speaking role. Then when you get to a good role that pays money is when u get the casting couch.
