RETRACTIONS used to be extremely rare in science because top journals relied upon well-qualified peer reviewers to vet studies. Since COVID - and even before - they have become COMMON. Now they don't try to refute the data, just say that the CONCLUSION was unjustified based on the results. Or make some vague stmt about inadequacy of the methodology.
