The United States had ceased to exist. In its place, a brutal dictatorship and hundreds of millions oppressed formerly free subjects of the People's American Republic: ROM had tracked this change. It was the worst so far. The world would recover from a theoretical physicist losing a Nobel prize. After all, another physicist would win it instead. Someone is always going to win. Someone is always going to lose. Misplacing an entire country was terrible. Somehow, somewhen an agent of ROM had to find the source of these destructive changes and burn it with fire. Destroying the ability to cause such course mischief.
Those with access to the complete historical data were coming to the realization that another ROM existed, and this one was not a beneficent entity. It took the opportunity and made evil happen. Whether that was the intention, it hardly mattered. The results of the actions from an alternate version of a ROM generated the substance of evil. ROM's crew was always on the lookout. Eventually, this other ROM would make an error. They would capture that data and form a plan of certain action to eradicate the vile version of their doppelganger. There needed to be balance to it. This was different from ordinary yin and yang. By whatever means possible, ROM and her crew would fix these abhorrent time sector errors.
