Old people lose their ability to regulate their body temp and realize when they are over heated. Very dangerous to allow seemingly smart and healthy OLD FOLKS go out alone, when it is too hot or cold. It has nothing to do with smarts. It has to do with lost ability to recognize the temp until too late.
As for the baby, it was said on one news report, that the parents has accidentally locked the keys in the car. So they broke the window. Seems smart to me. Easy to lose the keys when dealing with multiple situations(kids and partners etc.). They saved the kid and no harm done.
