EPA set to approve chlormaquat chloride on grains. This chemical was prohibited by the very same EPA in 1962 for use on anything but ornamental plants in greenhouses. That was before the agency was captured by industry.
Chlormaquat is linked to disruption of fetal growth, metabolic alterations, lower sperm motility, deceased testosterone, delayed development in puberty, and other effects. At a time when chronic disease is at an all-time high, do we really need more chemicals in our food?
Chlormaquat is one of those “forever chemicals” — it persists in the environment and accumulates in animal tissues. That’s why the #EPA restricted it to indoor use in 1962. #Kennedy24
