CNN reports the Hunter Biden deal is back on but in a narrower scope than previously agreed upon that leaves Biden open to future charges.

The judge had raised the issue of FARA violations in the hearing before the deal temporarily fell apart with DOJ prosecutors saying Biden was still under investigation but would not get into specifics. The two sides agreed to an understanding of the scope of the plea deal and went back before the judge.

Kara Scannell reported from outside the courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware that prosecutors and Hunter Biden’s attorneys agreed that the deal covers “any charges that were tax charges from 2014 to 2019, any drug use charges because Biden has admitted that he used illegal drugs and the specific firearm possession charge that is included in this deal.”

Russian IT boss sentenced to 14 years for treason

Group-IB’s Ilya Sachkov will serve the term in a high-security penal colony

A Moscow court has sentenced Ilya Sachkov, a co-founder of one of Russia’s top cybersecurity firms, Group-IB, to 14 years in jail for treason, news agencies reported on Wednesday.

Sachkov will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony and will have to pay a fine of 500,000 rubles ($5,560), according to the ruling by the Moscow City Court. The case was heard behind closed doors and the court materials are classified.

The cybersecurity entrepreneur was arrested in 2021 on suspicion of passing classified information to foreign spies. According to the prosecution, Sachkov collected and transmitted information constituting a state secret to foreign intelligence services in 2011. Sachkov denied the accusations.

According to Bloomberg, the trial may be related to the transfer of information to the US about a hacker group that is allegedly linked to Russian intelligence and is accused of cyberattacks during the 2016 US presidential election.

Sachkov is no longer associated with Group-IB as the firm exited the Russian market in April. A new firm, F.A.C.C.T. (Fight Against Cybercrime Technologies), was founded in its place with Sachkov as a shareholder. Group-IB issued a statement condemning Wednesday’s court verdict, while F.A.C.C.T. said the defense would appeal the ruling.

Prosecutors Slam NXIVM’S Keith Raniere Appeal for a New Trial – Sex Cult Guru Claims FBI ‘Planted’ Child Porn in His Hard Drive – Victim Camila Confirms Underage Pictures Were Taken by Him

62 year-old Keith Raniere was convicted in 2019 – and later sentenced to 120 years in prison – for his criminal activities as the ‘guru’ of multi-level marketing scam NXIVM and the disturbing secret society DOS, involved in the shocking practice of fire-branding its sex slaves in the groin area.

The saga of NXIVM became a cultural obsession in America, generating a flood of books, podcasts and TV series, like HBO’s ‘The Vow’.

The ‘Vanguard’ has filed an appeal – his third – for a new trial, claiming he has evidence showing the government ‘manufactured child pornography and planted it on a computer hard drive to tie it to him’.

“Federal prosecutors slammed convicted Nxivm sex cult leader Keith Raniere’s bid for a new trial — denouncing his claim that he has ‘newly discovered evidence’ that proves the FBI planted evidence on his computer.

In a response filed Friday in Brooklyn federal court, prosecutors wrote that Raniere’s third attempt at securing a new trial — like his first two — was ‘entirely without merit’, adding that the motion should be denied as ‘untimely, unfounded, legally unsupported, and contrary to the evidence adduced at trial’.”

Prosecutors detailed the evidence the FBI found in Raniere’s residence — including nude photos of his underage sex slave Camila, who was around 15 years-old at the time.

“’As proved at trial, in 2005, Raniere produced and possessed child pornography images of Camila, a child he was sexually abusing’, the court papers state.

Investigative journalist Frank Parlato is widely considered to be the man who took down NXIVM with his hard-boiled and relentless reporting, and has been also covering Raniere’s claims that the government ‘falsified, fabricated, and manipulated’ nude images of underage Camila – who did not testify at Raniere’s trial – and ‘planted it on a computer hard drive’ to convict him of child exploitation and child pornography – as predicate acts of racketeering.

“The DOJ’s opposition filing includes Camila’s declaration, stating, ‘I am the subject in each photograph, which were taken in 2005 by Keith Raniere’.”

Camila was 15 and Raniere was 45 in 2005, when, according to the DOJ, Camila was pictured lying naked in bed. Some of the pictures do not show her face but are closeups of her genitals.

“Camila said in her declaration, ‘I recognize my body, and I recall one of the poses he placed me in and where he was with the camera in relation to my body. I recognize the surroundings, and I remember the feelings of shame and confusion, not understanding why he was doing that to me’.”

Hunter Biden pleads not guilty to tax, gun charges as judge rips up two versions of sweetheart plea deal

First son Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to federal tax and gun charges Wednesday, a dramatic about-face after his wrist-slap, probation-only plea deal fell apart Wednesday over his demand for blanket immunity from accountability for all criminal conduct — including alleged illegal foreign lobbying.

The stunning turn of events came more than 90 minutes into the hearing at the federal courthouse in Wilmington, Del., where Hunter was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay taxes and enter a diversion program on a felony federal weapons charge.

Prosecutors admitted under questioning from US District Judge Maryellen Noreika that President Biden’s 53-year-old son still could be charged with offenses including failing to register as a foreign agent for lucrative dealings in countries such as China and Ukraine that allegedly involved his father.

“As far as I’m concerned, the plea agreement is null and void,” defense attorney Chris Clark reportedly told the court in response a little before noon.

Both sides then tried to move forward with a revised plea deal that specified Hunter would face no additional charges linked to tax crimes from 2014 to 2019 — or any counts involving his drug use and associated gun ownership crimes. However, Noreika indicated that agreement was unacceptable as well, leading the first son to change his plea.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has since Monday teased the opening of an impeachment inquiry into President Biden for his alleged role in Hunter’s business dealings and the stark confirmation of an ongoing foreign-agent investigation by the Delaware US attorney’s office could spur on House investigators.

Hunter Biden introduced his dad to many of his foreign associates and in some instances served as a liaison to US officials. Legal experts assess that he likely violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act through conduct documented on his abandoned laptop and other records.

Kevin Spacey acquitted of all 9 sexual offense charges in London trial

Kevin Spacey broke down in tears after a London jury found him not guilty of committing sex offenses against four men.

The two-time Oscar winner was acquitted of nine charges — including sexual assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity — in court on Wednesday, which also marked his 64th birthday.

He faced the possibility of life in prison if found guilty of the crimes.

After leaving court, a still-emotional Spacey addressed a throng of media, stating: “I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. I am humbled by the outcome.”

The charges pertained to sex offense allegations that plaintiffs claimed took place between 2004 and 2013, while the star of acclaimed films such as “The Usual Suspects” and “Seven” served as artistic director at London’s historic Old Vic theater.

Spacey pleaded not guilty to all nine charges, saying any encounters with the men would have been consensual.

He said he was promiscuous and a “big flirt” who had “casual, indiscriminate sexual encounters.”

Spacey’s lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, vociferously defended the star, telling the jury it was not a crime for his client to enjoy casual gay sex “because it’s 2023, not 1823.”

The jury, composed of six men and three women, deliberated for three days after hearing mountains of evidence over the course of the five-week trial.

Three of the accusers claim they were aggressively groped — while the fourth alleged Spacey performed oral sex on him when he was passed out in the star’s London apartment.

The four variously described the actor as a “vile sexual predator,” “slippery” and “atrocious, despicable, disgusting.”

Amazon rolling out PAY-BY-PALM services as new payment tech at all Whole Foods Market stores

Amazon, the tech and retail giant and the parent company of Whole Foods, announced on July 20 that it is expanding its pay-by-palm services known as Amazon One to all Whole Foods Market stores across the United States.

Initially launched in 2021, Amazon One will be fully operational for both payment and Prime membership benefits to more than 500 upscale grocery chain locations in the U.S. by the end of this year. Instead of conventional payment methods, customers will simply hover their palms over an Amazon One device to complete transactions.

The advanced palm recognition technology that creates a unique palm signature for each user, launched one of its newest features – the integration with Amazon Prime. Customers who link their Prime membership to their Amazon One profile will automatically receive savings every time their palm is scanned.

However, Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP) Executive Director Albert Fox Cahn warned customers about the dangers of using biometrics information.

"Biometric data is one of the only ways that companies and governments can track us permanently. You can change your name, you can change your Social Security number, but you can’t change your palm print," he said. "The more we normalize these tactics, the harder they will be to escape. If we don’t [draw a] line in the sand here, I am very fearful what our future will look like."

Amazon sued for secretly collecting biometrics data

In March, Amazon faced a lawsuit in New York City, accusing the company of violating the city's laws by failing to inform customers that their biometric information was being collected at the NYC Amazon Go store.

According to the complaint filed by STOP on behalf of shopper Alfredo Rodriguez Perez, Amazon Go stores continuously collect and utilize customers' biometric identifier information, including palm scans and body measurements, to identify customers, track their movements and determine purchases.

Amazon Go store, known for its "Just Walk Out" technology, allows customers to enter the store by scanning the app, picking the items they desire and leaving without going through traditional checkouts. Biometric data collection, such as scanning palms and tracking customers' movements, is integral to this technology.

However, in 2021, New York City implemented a law requiring all commercial establishments that collect, store and retain biometric identifier information to clearly inform consumers through conspicuous signs at all entrances. The law covers identifiers like fingerprints, hand prints, body shapes, retina scans and facial recognition.

The lawsuit alleged that Amazon neglected to post any of the required signs until a New York Times story highlighted their biometric data collection practices, more than a year after the law's enactment. Furthermore, the signs that were later displayed were claimed to be non-compliant with the city's law in terms of their wording, appearance and placement.

Macron Doubles Down on Censorship, Demands Ability to Impose ‘Digital Public Order’ During Unrest

French President Emmanuel Macron has continued his push for increased censorship in France, arguing that the state needs the authority to impose “digital public order” amid riots or unrest.

In his first interview following the end of his 100-day time frame to restore faith in his government, President Macron attempted to claim success by pointing to a number of legislative successes, however, the issue of the riots earlier this month following the police shooting which took the life of an Algerian-heritage teenager continue to loom over the country.

Stressing the need for “order, order, order”, Macron doubled down on his pitch for more censorship as a means of preventing further destructive riots. The French president noted that many of the anarchic youths who engaged in the rioting, looting, and burning of buildings had “met on the networks”.

He, therefore, called for the authority of the government to institute “digital public order” with the ability to remove content from social media in order to “better protect young people from screens through partnerships with platforms,” Le Figaro reported.

In a meeting with some 300 mayors at the Élysée Palace earlier this month, Macron had reportedly suggested that the state could “cut off social networks” when “things get carried away”. The suggestion was condemned by party leaders from across the political spectrum, with many comparing him to dictators in Communist China and North Korea.

The French government vastly expanded its surveillance capabilities this month, passing legislation allowing security services to spy on citizens through the remote activation of cameras and microphones on phones, laptops and cars.

The president did not address the impact of mass migration on the recent riots, opting instead to focus on the issue of familial breakdown, saying that “our country needs a return of authority at every level, and first in the family.”

He called for the government to “empower families and reinvest in our youth to give them a framework” other than engaging in violent rioting. Macron suggested that he will also seek to extend the hours of operation of some schools to keep kids off the streets.

Although the vast majority of the public believes that the recent riots were a result of the “failures of migration policy”, the French government takes an officially colour-blind position, meaning that it will not reveal the race or ethnicity of the some 600 people who were jailed earlier this month.

Perhaps in a slight admission of the disastrous impacts of mass migration, Macron did say that his party will seek to partner with the opposition Les Républicains to pass through immigration reforms to ensure France is “better protected within its borders, and better integrate those who are there and help the nation to succeed.”

It remains to be seen what the details of such immigration reform will be, however, and will not likely satisfy the demands of populists on the right, with Rassemblement National (National Rally) Member of European Parliament, Patricia Chagnon-Clevers telling Breitbart London that she would seek for a total “halt of all immigration” in order to restore order to France.

Failed presidential candidate and political fossil John Kerry, a Democrat, is back in the news for ominous comments he recently made about how the only way for leftists to achieve their “net zero” climate goals is for farmers all around the world to stop growing food.

The illegitimate Joe Biden regime’s Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Kerry told an audience at the Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) AIM for Climate Summit the other day that “we can’t get to net zero, we won’t get this job done, unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution.”

According to Kerry, he and other world leaders’ “lives depend” on farmers ceasing their operations. This will lower agriculture “emissions,” Kerry added, noting that he does not even call it climate change anymore – “it’s not change; it’s a crisis.”

“Mitigating methane is the fastest way to reduce warming in the short term,” Kerry declared to the audience, referring to the flatulence produced by cattle as they munch on grasses – or in the case of chemical agriculture, the gas these animals pass after eating genetically modified (GMO) corn and other industrial feed.

“Food and agriculture can contribute to a low-methane future by improving farmer productivity and resilience,” he further stated. “We welcome agriculture ministers participating in the implementation of the Global Methane Pledge.”
