At the end the guardians kill the villain, named High Evolutionary, but first Gamora rips his face off and says, “ it’s just a mask”. We’ll it was kinda because Rocket had ripped his face up in a flashback and it was sorta reattached.

Then they free all the children and other creatures from the spaceship and take them to a new world.
