Best advice I can give on the planes is if you are tracking one, take regular screenshots (say every 30 mins). That way you don't lose too much if it drops off the radar.
ADS-B stops working when they leave the coastline, so be ready for that. As you gain experience, you'll start to notice patterns. Channel your inner autist and the patterns will eventually start to make sense.
There are several of us R7, Gungan Frog, and other Planefags that will guide you, so don't feel that you are alone.
Also, timestamo your screen shots so that you can follow the flow later on. I use Zulu time (GMT) as my basis for time stamps.
