US defense officials said the military rebels in Niger had suspended all military flights from Air Base 201, located near the city of Agadez in central Niger.

 

AFB 201 is the US Air Force's 409th Expeditionary Air Force's large drone base, costing more than $100 million and considered to be the largest construction project ever undertaken by the Air Force.

 

Flights of MQ-9 Reaper drones for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) began at the base in 2019.
