…A sudden shift in the Earth's axial tilt. Objects once on the horizon (and dipping under it) now higher in the sky (or hidden, depending upon which hemisphere). Then, with that, the water tables altered (centrifugal force). Places once lush with vegetation or once underwater becoming the deserts that exist, today. Others, flooded. It would have taken a massive object, to cause such a drastic alteration.

…You wouldn't believe a comet flyby, eventually settling into an orbit. Venus comes to mind. Thinking the whole 'omen' associated with comets (which can drag other objects, along with it.) Mercury and the moon; Quicksilver and silver. Anon might be wasting time, on this possible explanation.

…Often, anon's explanation is too far fetched for others to imagine or comprehend. (although symbolism tells the story, it isn't considered 'sauce', since it can't be physically seen in today's skies.) A terrestrial equivalent would be changing landscapes, as time passes.
