Kremlin pours cold water on BRICS currency speculation

The process of setting up a dollar alternative is complex and will take time, according to Dmitry Peskov

Introducing a single currency in the BRICS group of developing countries would be difficult to do in the short term, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

The economic bloc comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa has been debating the feasibility of creating a common currency for global trade as an alternative to the US dollar. The idea is supported by numerous other nations that want to join BRICS.

“Certainly, expert discussions are underway about the possibility, expediency and feasibility of plans to introduce the national currency of some kind of integration processes. This is still a discussion process; it is clear that it will be protracted in time,” Peskov stated.

He, however, added that while “in the short term, this is hardly feasible, the use of national currencies is already a reality that is growing on a global scale, and this practice is resorted to not only by countries that face sanction limitations, but by those that do not.”

According to Peskov, countries understand the benefits of this when conducting foreign trade.

The BRICS nations have been seeking to shift further away from the US dollar in mutual trade, with the de-dollarization trend gaining momentum following sanctions that effectively cut Russia off from the Western financial system.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has stated that developing nations should move away from the greenback in favor of their own currencies in order to push back against American dominance over the global financial system.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has said that the bloc should carefully discuss the idea, warning that de-dollarization would be complex and that there would be no guarantee of success.

Moscow floated the idea of introducing a BRICS currency last year. President Vladimir Putin said last June that member states were working on developing a new reserve currency based on a basket of the national currencies used by the five-nation bloc.

UK Govt Quietly Backs Facial Recognition Tech to Supposedly Stop Theft

British government officials reportedly drew up a secret scheme to put pressure on privacy regulators to allow private businesses to be allowed to use facial recognition cameras in a supposed push to crack down on crime.

A report from The Observer revealed that in a backroom meeting on March 8th, policing minister Chris Philp and top Home Office officials met with the facial recognition camera manufacturer Facewatch to come up with a plan to lobby the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) to allow high street shops, supermarkets, and other stores to be able to deploy facial recognition tech to deter shoplifting and other crimes.

The minutes of the meeting, which were provided to the sister paper of The Guardian, showed that Philp and Facewatch founder Simon Gordon talked about “retail crime and the benefits of privately owned facial recognition technology” and sought to make reduce privacy protections to allow shops to utilise the technology. Philp was also said to be considering “a speech to bring the benefits of FR [facial recognition] to the fore”.

Defending the utility of the dystopian tech, Gordon told the paper: “We provide each individual business with a service that will reduce crime in their stores and make their staff safer.

“Every store has 10 to 20 people who just constantly steal from that store. And the store knows who they are. They’ve been preventing theft for years – this isn’t a new thing. All this is doing is using new technology to stop it.

“One of our big retailers using it has a 25 per cent [crime] reduction compared to stores not using Facewatch,” he added.

However, others have raised concerns about the privacy implications of facial recognition cameras being installed en masse throughout the country.

The advocacy manager of the campaign group Big Brother Watch, Mark Johnson said: “The Home Office must urgently answer questions about this meeting, which appears to have led officials to lean on the ICO in order to favour a firm that sells highly invasive facial recognition technology.

“Government ministers should strive to protect human rights, not cosy up to private companies whose products pose serious threats to civil liberties in the UK.”

“The UK should seek to emulate the European artificial intelligence act, which would place a ban on the use of facial recognition for surveillance purposes in all public spaces,” Johnson added.

NYT: Biden 'Privately' Told Advisors Trump Should Be Prosecuted For J6, A.G. Garland Should 'Take Decisive Action'

Though Joe Biden is currently trying to distance himself from his Department of Justice indicting his chief political opponent, the New York Times reported in April that he "privately told his close circle of advisers" that Donald Trump "posed a threat to democracy and should be prosecuted for his role in the events of Jan 6."

"He also told confidants that he wanted Attorney General Merrick B. Garland to stop acting like a ponderous judge and to take decisive action," the Times reported.

"Biden 'privately' scolded Garland for not moving aggressively enough to prosecute Trump for Jan 6," Michael Tracey commented on Twitter. "These 'private' comments then made their way into the NYT, after which Garland moved more aggressively to prosecute Trump. They're both loving fathers though, so I'm sure it's fine."

Jared Kushner 'Cooperating' With Trump Indictment, Michael Cohen Believes

onald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, has said he believes Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner may be a "cooperating witness" in Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigations.

Cohen made the suggestion during an interview on CNN following Tuesday's indictment of the former president as part of Smith's probe into efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Kushner, who is married to Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka Trump, was a key figure during his father-in-law's administration and is not named in the 45-page indictment.

Operation Narsil disrupts network of child abuse websites designed to generate profits from advertising

Tracking the money made by perpetrators and preventing the revictimization of children

LYON, France – INTERPOL has concluded a two-year global operation to bring to justice criminals operating networks of child sexual abuse websites designed to generate profits from advertising.

Running from December 2021 to July 2023, Operation Narsil also targeted the finance mechanisms used by the website administrators to conduct their online advertising campaigns.

Over two years, INTERPOL member countries worked together using INTERPOL's Worst of List (IWOL), sharing targeted intelligence, pinpointing suspects and coordinating arrests of the people managing the websites.

Created in 2010, IWOL contains a watchlist of websites containing extreme child abuse material. The General Secretariat headquarters works with law enforcement in all regions so that national Internet service providers close down these websites.

“Operation Narsil sends a strong message to the criminals making money from these websites that INTERPOL, and its alliance of police forces in 195 member countries, know where they are, what they are doing, and how to find them,” said Jürgen Stock, INTERPOL Secretary General.

“Every time a person clicks on these images, they are effectively entering a crime scene. Identifying and removing these websites reduces the availability and potential normalization of online child abuse material, and, most importantly, reduces the re-victimization of the children abused,” added Secretary General Stock.

Worldwide crime trend

In one case, a brother and sister, both in their early thirties, were arrested as a result of IWOL digital clues and intelligence provided by the global police community pointing investigators to the suspects in Argentina.

Investigations by Argentina’s Victim Identification Office in the Anti Cyber Crimes against Minors Division and the Specialised Cybercrime Prosecution Unit (UFECI), working with Federal Courts in Mendoza Province, led to the identification and arrest of the two suspects.

Fourteen electronic devices were seized from their home as well as cash and credit cards. The siblings are thought to have created, maintained and financially benefitted for more than a decade from websites featuring child sexual abuse material and associated advertising campaigns.

“Given the technological complexities of this case and the degree to which the criminal activity went undetected, these arrests highlight the importance of police cooperation across regional, national, and international borders,” said the Head of Argentina’s Federal Police, Juan Carlos Hernandez, who also serves as delegate for the Americas on INTERPOL’s Executive Committee.

The Unsavory Marriage Between Israeli Cyberweapons, U.S. Interests and Dictatorships

If the U.S. really wanted to stop the spread of Israeli offensive cyber systems, it would impose sanctions on the Israeli defense officials who grant export licenses to these firms. But human rights are not a primary U.S. interest

Two years after the U.S. Department of Commerce put the Israeli offensive cyber companies NSO and Candiru on its list of sanctions, the Israeli companies Intellexa and Cytrox joined them last month.

The progression from the designation of two companies registered in Israel (NSO and Candiru) to two Israeli companies registered in Europe and under the control of former Israeli intelligence and security personnel (Intellexa and Cytrox), seemingly indicates that President Joe Biden's administration is paying attention to the methods of operation of Israelis in the offensive cyber field. But while some see the move as proof of the Biden administration's seriousness in dealing with the spread of offensive cyber, it is actually proof of the failure and lack of motivation to solve the problem.

Not by chance, these four companies were added to the sanctions list only after they were "burned out." For several years, they have been linked by journalists, the groundbreaking research center Citizen Lab and other digital and human rights organizations, to political scandals and human rights violations. NSO's and Candiru's systems were used against victims in dozens of countries, and Intellexa and Cytrox's system was used against political opponents and journalists in Greece.

These are not "bad" or "disobedient" apples in a well-meaning industry, but typical Israeli apples who, for profit, are willing to help or ignore violations of human rights and persecution of democratic movements and actors, and are part of an industry that is threatening the freedoms of all humanity. These are not "independent" apples, but apples that were sown and nurtured by the Israeli government and promote its diplomatic and security interests.

The shape-shifting activities of former Israeli security and intelligence personnel is not a new phenomenon. It has been practiced since the '50s, so that the Israeli governments can purchase and sell weapons and the materials needed for their production, and also transfer funds through intermediaries.

Hydrogel Interfaces for Merging Humans and Machines - MIT Research Review

Many people do not want to face the reality that the transhumanist agenda of merging humans with machines has been underway and is currently happening in an advanced stage. The digital ID and surveillance under the skin can be seen in the blood in the form of Quantum Dot technology and hydrogel replacement of blood cells, forming rubbery clots. Nanotechnology can be used as a weapon of mass destruction for depopulation purposes or to create automaton cyborg slaves. Everything described in science and reviewed in this article, is already happening. Please review this very visual review article that clearly outlines that the purpose of hydrogel is to fuse humans with machines.

Infant Vaccines Linked to Increase in All-Cause Mortality, New Research Shows

A new study finds developed countries requiring the most vaccine doses for infants have higher childhood mortality rates, contradicting assumptions that more vaccines equate to lower deaths. The data suggest unintended consequences

Developed nations requiring the most neonatal vaccine doses tend to have the worst childhood mortality rates, according to a peer-reviewed study published July 20 in Cureus Journal of Medical Science.

“Health authorities emphasize that vaccines save lives,” lead author Neil Miller told The Defender. “Yet our data suggests that when developed nations require two versus zero neonatal vaccine doses, or many versus fewer vaccines during infancy, there may be unintended consequences that increase all-cause mortality.”

Miller, director of the Institute of Medical and Scientific Inquiry in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been researching this topic since the early 2000s. In a 2011 paper with the same co-author — Gary S. Goldman, Ph.D., an independent computer scientist — they showed that developed countries requiring the most vaccine doses for infants had the least favorable infant mortality rates.

Earlier this year, they replicated those results using updated data and responded to critics of their findings.

In their latest study, Miller and Goldman expanded the scope of their earlier analyses to consider the effects of two vaccines — hepatitis B and tuberculosis — both typically given soon after birth.

The study calculated the effect of these shots on mortality rates for neonates (up to 28 days post-birth), infants (up to 1 year old), and children under 5. Analyses were all based on separate data from 2019 and 2021.

Mortality data and vaccine schedules were collected from UNICEF, the World Health Organization and national governments.

Nations were categorized by the number of neonatal vaccine doses (zero, one or two) mandated for newborns to determine if statistically significant differences existed in mortality rates for the three age groups.

After applying standard statistical analyses to the data, the study found a strong association between vaccinations and rates of neonatal, infant and under-5 mortality for both years studied.

“Our findings would be considered moderate correlations which are statistically significant,” Miller said. The correlations are positive, meaning that the more vaccine doses given, the higher the mortality.

“In these circumstances health authorities expect to see negative correlations, that is, a decline in mortality with more vaccine doses. So, any statistically significant positive correlation is a genuine concern,” Miller said.

Miller calculated a highly significant difference of 1.28 deaths per 1,000 live births in the mean infant mortality rates between nations not giving their neonates any vaccine doses, and those requiring vaccination against both hepatitis B and tuberculosis.

For each reduction of six vaccine doses administered during infancy, the infant mortality rate improved by approximately one death per 1,000 live births.

A hallmark of good science is the good-faith openness to test one’s conclusions, a practice Miller and Goldman followed here. To validate their conclusions, the researchers applied 18 different statistical analyses to the data. This is like using several different camera angles to confirm whether a tennis ball hit the line or was out.

Seventeen of 18 statistical treatments confirmed the original conclusion that the more vaccines given, the higher the infant and early childhood mortality rates.

SMS exchanges between AFP commissioner and PwC 'mate' revealed, as top cop faces questions over conflict of interest

Text exchanges between Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner Reece Kershaw and PwC partner Mick Fuller have revealed more extensive conversations between the pair than the commissioner previously suggested to parliament.

Key points:

AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw has been questioned on why he did not declare a friendship with a PwC partner, with whom he met over a $794,000 contract

The commissioner said he had only received one message from the partner since the PwC scandal broke

FOI documents reveal repeated exchanges over several months and references to leaks

Commissioner Kershaw has been challenged on whether he failed to declare a conflict of interest over his friendship with the former New South Wales police commissioner-turned PwC partner, after it was revealed the pair had met several times in relation to a $794,000 contract awarded to the accounting firm without tender.

In May, under questioning in Senate estimates, an AFP official said Commissioner Kershaw did not declare a conflict of interest over his friendship with Mr Fuller because despite commissioning the review, he did not do the procurement.

Asked what communication Commissioner Kershaw had with Mr Fuller "since the PwC scandal broke", the commissioner responded he had received "one SMS from Mick".

But text exchanges obtained by Greens senator David Shoebridge show the pair chatting on about a dozen different occasions since the start of this year, when Peter-John Collins was first banned as a tax agent after he shared confidential Treasury briefings to help clients get around a planned multinational tax.

The AFP is now investigating Mr Collins over those allegations.

Senator Shoebridge said he was yet to be assured that the AFP could conduct an independent criminal investigation into a former PwC partner while it maintained contracts with the firm.

Separate to the $794,000 contract to review the AFP's services provided to ACT Policing, the AFP has several contracts for internal auditing services with PwC.

Commissioner Kershaw said in May he had the "utmost confidence" the right systems were in place within the force to avoid a conflict of interest.

Senator Shoebridge said the SMS exchanges between the commissioner and Mr Fuller would be examined when the AFP is recalled for questioning on Friday morning.

"I cannot understand why a conflict of interest hasn't been put in, and these documents only heighten my concerns. And in fact they do it in circumstances where the AFP is still hiding 90 per cent of the material, we got a seriously redacted exchange," Senator Shoebridge said.

"What we can see is it shows a very extensive connection, and one would have thought that the integrity measures in the AFP would require a conflict of interest."
