2013 Paper: Bottled Water is a Potent Hormone Disruptor
"… we detected antiestrogens and antiandrogens in the majority of analyzed bottled water products. Moreover, the antagonist activity was very potent. An equivalent of 3.75 mL bottled water inhibited estrogen and androgen receptor by up to 60 and 90%, respectively."
The inhibition of the most active samples corresponded to a theoretical concentration of 5.25 mg per litre of flutamide, a pharmaceutical antiandrogen. This was known a decade ago and nothing has been done about it, perhaps this is because industry has a heavy stake in continuing to package products in a material that is cheap and lightweight, but perhaps also something to do with the UN's research into human aggression and peacekeeping, which frequently mentions the relationship between human aggression and testosterone.
