if you study Catholocism from a sociological perspective you quickly find that there were hundreds and hundreds of different orders.

some cummunities might have seemed more cult like than others.

they are not all the same, and they don't all have the same priorities in many areas.

What they do agree about: we can all go to each others churches, we can all participate in each others masses, and we look for unity which is all tied together through a hierarchy of bishops, and the bishop of Rome being the head.

and everyone knows, who is Catholic, that the pope isn't always so great.

with a billion people world wide can you say that all Catholics think and act the same?

Is it really a cult? the answer I have is: there may be cult like aspects with in some of the orders however don't we find that in all organizations and hierarchies?
