Supreme Court judges are judges for life. When the majority are social activists that rule on feelings, you get horrible laws passed.

 

When you have a majority that use the law of the land, THE CONSTITUTION, to do their ruling, you get fair, balanced, and thoughtful legislation.

 

Most prefer the latter.

 

The swing vote (IMO) is that he would often be a fence sitter and be the deciding vote.
