Trump prosecutor donated thousands to Biden, Democrats, records show

The attorney donated $5,600 to elect Joe Biden and $2,250 to elect Cory Booker.

A prosecutor working on special counsel Jack Smith's cases against former President Donald Trump has donated thousands of dollars to Democrats and to elect Joe Biden as president, according to donation records.

David Rody, former head of the Violent Crimes unit in the New York Southern District U.S. Attorney's Office, left private practice to advise Smith in fall 2022, according to Law.com.

Before joining Smith's team, Rody donated $2,500 to the Democratic National Committee and $1,000 to Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) in 2022, according to records from the Federal Election Commission.

Rody, who left the federal government in 2011 before returning last year, made the bulk of his donations while working in private practice.

Other notable donations include $5,600 given to elect Biden in 2020 and $500 to then-candidate Kamala Harris in 2019.

Additionally, Rody gave $2,250 to Sen. Cory Booker from 2018 to 2019 for the New Jersey Democrat's senate race and presidential campaign, records show.

The revelations about Rody's donations come after news broke last week that D.C. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, the Obama-appointed judge overseeing the charges brought against Trump related to the 2020 election, had donated nearly $4,300 to Obama's campaign in 2008 and 2012.

I'm a single mum with cancer running a private sex offender register identifying 4,604 sick abusers. Why is the government leaving the safety of our children up to me?

Fresh calls for a publicly accessible sex offender registry

A single mum operating a private sex offender registry while undergoing treatment for cancer is calling on on the Albanese government to introduce a larger, government-run list after a childcare worker's alleged horrific crimes were exposed.

Since starting Offenders Exposed about nine years ago, Tania Roy has publicly identified 4,604 people found guilty of sexual crimes across Australia.

Ms Roy, from Gympie in Queensland, said the registry she runs full-time by herself would be dwarfed by the scale of any federal government database.

'We need access to a public database of convicted offenders that helps us know who's in our life,' she told Daily Mail Australia.

'The Australian public want it and they want it for a reason.'

Fresh calls for a public registry come after a 45-year-old male ex-childcare worker was charged with 1,623 child abuse offences in Brisbane, Sydney and overseas.

The death toll from a train derailment in southern Pakistan has risen to 30, with the number of injured to 60, and rescue operations were underway, officials say.

Ten cars of a Rawalpindi-bound train got derailed, and some overturned, near the Pakistani town of Nawabshah trapping many passengers, said senior railway officer Mahmoodur Rehman Lakho said on Sunday.

Baloch said women and children were among the dead and injured.

Local television showed rescue teams extracting women, children and elderly passengers from damaged and overturned cars. Some of the injured were lying on the ground crying for help while locals gave out water and food.

Lakho, who is in charge of railways in the accident area, said rescue crews took injured passengers to the nearby Peoples Hospital in Nawabshah.

He said the ill-fated Hazara Express was on its way from Karachi to Rawalpindi when ten cars went off the tracks near the Sarhari railway station off Nawabshah.
