Zoom is apparently (haven't checked their "terms" for myself) insisting users consent to their data being used to "train" AI. Question: If this is true what about people not under the agreement? For example, say someone steps into a room with Zoom in use? Are they subject to this? Is this somehow connected to SAG strike?
I am starting to have the view that some petulant childish people have gotten their way because they were able to use fear to get people to stay quiet out of the mistaken idea that they were the minority. Back in the day of more conventional photography photographers were obligated in some manner to obtain a "model release" for photos that could identify a specific individual if the photo was to be used commercially. At least that is my understanding. The newbies in tech seem to have little to no understanding of the US Constitution regarding inalienable human rights and it should be explored as a weakness in their plans, imo.
This situation also helps to answer a question I have long asked: When robots, machine learning and such displace many human workers who will be supporters of or purchasers of the products made? Examples: Factory in Europe was being built to make sneakers/athletic shoes, but only a few workers were planned. Who will have brand loyalty to this product or the means to buy them? Now consider all the writers, actors, content providers and programmers that can be ditched with AI. Now that they are on their way out who will be sitting on the platforms paying attention to the drivel being put out by the algorithms and AI?
Killing your market doesn't make sense unless you are just evil. Evil is senseless, pointless and loveless.
