You can also get Alpha-Gal from Lone-Star ticks. I contracted it in early 2009, explained it perfectly to my AF doc who then (in writing) made fun of me. In 2014, an f'ing military veterinarian pulled rank & forced the base hospital to admit they were (incompetent) & got me tested.

I don't know, but if you have alpha-gal, you eat certain red meat, pork and a few hours later you have a laten allergic reaction. In my case, I would become red/itchy but super sleepy but if I didn't take an allergy med, I'd fall asleep & go into a dangerous shallow breathing then stop breathing altogether. In essence, I could have off'd myself by just eating a big juicy steak & chillaxing.

I dodged the jab, as for the alpha-gal, I spotted the tick/removed it. I was super pleased it wasn't a Dear tick thinking that was my only concern.

If you look up Alpha-gal, the tick bite triggers an immuno response once your body breaks down the proteins into sugars or vice/versa hence the hours delay. Once the protein breaks down, the body treats it as the ticks saliva/bite and sends you into a slow/delayed anaphylaxis.
