There's also the well known clickbait effect that makes people say and do anything they think will result in more clicks. Saying it works get way more views than saying some quackery doesn't work. If they're monetized, they get mo money, if not they get dopamine. It seems like a win-win until the karmic cost of knowingly spreading false hope is applied. I doubt they care atm.
