Illinois State Supreme Court Declares ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban Constitutional

Americans have been buying guns at a record pace for four straight years.

This is partially because of rising crime, but also because people are concerned about Democrats and gun control.

Americans are right about the Democrats. No matter how bad things get in the country, due mostly to their policies, they just won’t stop trying to enforce more control on law abiding people.

Look at what just happened in Illinois.

The Illinois State Supreme Court found a strict assault weapons ban passed after the Highland Park shooting to be constitutional in a ruling issued Friday.

The ruling came in response to a lawsuit that claimed that the ban violated the equal protections clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The court reversed a lower court finding and said that the law does not violate the equal protections clause. However, the Supreme Court did not comment on claims that the law also violated the Second Amendment.

In the ruling, which was 4-3, Justice Elizabeth Rochford wrote, “First, we hold that the exemptions neither deny equal protection nor constitute special legislation because plaintiffs have not sufficiently alleged that they are similarly situated to and treated differently from the exempt classes. Second, plaintiffs expressly waived in the circuit court any independent claim that the restrictions impermissibly infringe the second amendment. Third, plaintiffs’ failure to cross-appeal is a jurisdictional bar to renewing their three-readings claim.”

Of course, the left is overjoyed about this.

“Time for the Bud Light Treatment” – Social Media Erupts After Skittles Partners with Far-Left Group Which Supports Sex Procedures for Children and Places “Black Trans Lives Matter” On Its Packaging

Skittles apparently wants to become candy’s version of Bud Light thanks to their decision to push the far-left’s trans agenda.

The Daily Mail reported Friday that conservatives are up in arms after learning the candy brand has altered their packaging and joined forces with a far-left group called The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). This is the fourth year in a row they have partnered with the organization.

One astute social media user notes that GLAAD supports children receiving sex procedures, including gender reassignment surgeries.

But this year the concept was altered to include work from five LGBTQ “artists.” They were asked to create designs which represented how they “see the rainbow.”

One designer decided to include a “Black Trans Lives Matter” message.

The anger from the right unsurprisingly poured in upon seeing this message and learning about the company’s partnership with GLAAD. Chaya Raichek, who runs the Libs of Tiktok account, says this is part of the agenda to turn children into Marxist BLM and LGBTQ activists. She also points out there is a drag queen on the package.

Pritzker vetoes bill that lifted moratorium on new Illinois nuclear power stations

State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, said the governor is putting his own partisan political ambitions over what is in the best interest of the people of Illinois.

Illinois’ moratorium on new nuclear power plant construction will stay in place for now after Gov. J.B. Pritzker vetoed a bill that would have lifted the ban.

The legislation would have invalidated a 1987 law that prohibited new nuclear power facilities from being built until a permanent waste storage option was made available.

“The bill is vetoed because the vague definitions in the bill, including the overly broad definition of advanced reactors, will open the door to the proliferation of large-scale nuclear reactors that are so costly to build that they will cause exorbitant ratepayer-funded bailouts,” Pritzker’s office said in a statement.

The bill specifically called for allowing the development of so-called advanced nuclear reactors such as the Small Modular Nuclear Reactors, or SMRs, that industry advocates have proposed to help meet the state’s emissions-free energy goal.

David Kraft, director of the Nuclear Energy Information Service, said the state doesn’t need any more nuclear reactors.

"There would be competition now only for market share for the energy, but there would be severe competition to get that energy on an already overcrowded transmission grid,” Kraft said.

State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, said the governor is putting his own partisan political ambitions over what is in the best interest of the people of Illinois.

“The governor’s decision to veto Senate Bill 76 is a short-sighted mistake that will hurt our state’s future energy portfolio," Rezin told The Center Square.

The measure would have made Illinois the sixth state to remove such a moratorium. Indiana passed a law allowing the public service commission to issue certificates of necessity for the construction of advanced nuclear, “paving the way for SMRs in Indiana.”

Also Friday, Pritzker vetoed House Bill 3643, which would have amended the School Code to require the Illinois State Board of Education to enter into a statewide education master contract to provide religious dietary options to all Illinois school districts.

"Local school districts, not the Illinois State Board of Education, have the expertise and understanding of local needs required to enter into food service contracts based on federal USDA nutrition guidelines," Pritzker's office said.
