Completely spitballing here, but from what I understand, with us entering Grand solar minimum, and less solar activity, our magnetosphere is becoming weak. This in turn allows more galactic and other cosmic radiation into our atmosphere and planet. As the schumann resonance is an interaction between the earth and the ionosphere, it seems plausible that it may be effected by increases in cosmic radiation.
Again, just brainstorming.
