The day of the fire….at 9am the fire was reported 100% contained. Firefighters were sent home. Winds were expected to exceed 70mph by the afternoon on same day. By 4pm the fire was raging and burned thru an entire town. In Hawai'i, we have top of the line civil defense warning sirens. None were activated it was too late. Schools were closed that day because of power outages so many children and elderly were at home while parents were working. Traffic was at a standstill to evacuate while fire was burning all around them. People fled their vehicles and ran to the ocean. Many many didn't not make it. Bodies all over the street melted 😞 in the hundreds. The news reports 90+ today but it is way higher
