Harnwell: BREAKING — 76.6% of Ukrainians Hold Zelensky “Directly Responsible” for Corruption in UKR

15:36

“A new study, conducted by two Ukrainian institutions, has revealed that over 75% Ukrainian citizens believe President Volodymyr Zelensky is directly responsible for the pervasive corruption in the government and military administrations.”

I want to underline that this poll was conducted by Ukrainians for Ukrainians.

Well done European Conservative for bringing this to the English-speaking world. Now let’s do our bit and bang it out on all the social media platforms — because the MSM will try to suppress it.

Majority of Ukrainians Blame Zelensky for Government Corruption. Aug. 14, 2023

There are no more valid excuses for a government who fails to take action to eliminate abuse and combat negligence.

A new study, conducted by two Ukrainian institutions, has revealed that over 75% Ukrainian citizens, believe President Volodymyr Zelensky is directly responsible for the pervasive corruption in the government and military administrations.

The joint sociological study, carried out by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Kyiv International Sociological Institute (KIIS), with the assistance of the Prague Civil Society Center, indicated that 77.6% of Ukrainians surveyed blamed the country’s corruption on the Ukrainian leader. Zelensky has consolidated his power over the war’s duration, the portal NEWS UA reports.

The study’s results come as a separate Ukrainian public opinion survey, provided exclusively to The European Conservative, revealed that an overwhelming majority of Ukrainians deeply mistrust the EU and NATO, with 71% of respondents saying that NATO and the EU only follow self-serving interests and simply use Ukraine for their own purposes.

Commenting on the study’s results, sociologist Petro Burkovsky, who serves as the director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, said:

The delay in solving the problems, which undermines people’s faith in victory, also affects the president’s reputation. The survey showed that 77.6% of citizens believe that the president is directly responsible for corruption in the government and military administration.

Furthermore, the sociologist noted that “the widespread argument that the government does not have time for everything” simply no longer works. After 16 months of war, there is no longer a valid excuse for those who fail to take action to eliminate abuses and do nothing to combat negligence and incompetence. Citizens increasingly believe that the state, with Zelensky at the helm, “have had time to do everything, to do everything to combat [corruption], using the powers that were extended during the state of war.”

Continuing, Burkovsky said:

In other words, officials who fail in their duties are no less dangerous of enemies at this time than Russia. And the citizens expect Volodymyr Zelensky to be determined to remove such persons from the leadership, to listen to, and appoint executives who will honestly point out the problems and competently propose solutions. … Therefore, the purging of territorial recruitment centers of ‘invaluable personnel’ should be the start of a countdown, not a point in the process of reforming the defense sector. In this case, the path of easy solutions should not be followed. It is assumed that the majority of citizens could support a ‘simple idea’ of directing offending military commanders to the front line. However, can we trust the weapons and the lives of soldiers to men who have cynically traded in their exemption cards? Such a decision is unlikely to be supported in combat units. But the replacement of corrupt officials with veterans will find a response in society.

The survey also found that nearly three out of four Ukrainians (72.9%) support the discharge of wounded soldiers from the armed forces, with adequate compensation to cover treatment and rehabilitation.

Some 2,011 people across 135 Ukrainian settlements participated in the survey.

News of the study’s findings came just days before President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that all regional military recruitment heads would be removed from their posts following a scandal that revealed the recruiters had taken substantial amounts of cash bribes to allow men to avoid military service, as The European Conservativereported.

“We are dismissing all regional military commissars,” Zelensky said in a statement, adding, “This system should be run by people who know exactly what war is and why cynicism and bribery at a time of war is high treason.”

“But let me emphasize: the army is not and never will be a substitute for criminal punishment. Officials who confused epaulets and benefits will definitely be brought to trial,” he concluded.

(The people are awake but Zelensky has shut down every avenue to fight corruption. How will this end?)

Washington accused of betraying allies over Niger

The US has chosen its own interests over its allies, a French diplomat has told Le Figaro, following Victoria Nuland’s visit to Niger

Washington got in the way of its own NATO ally, France, when it decided to send Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to talk to the nation’s new military government, Le Figaro reported over the weekend, citing a source within the French Foreign Ministry.

The US “did the exact opposite of what we thought they would do,” a French diplomatic source told the paper, adding that “with allies like these, we do not need enemies.” Paris has been insisting on the reinstatement of ousted President Mohamed Bazoum ever since a new military government came to power in Niger in a coup in late July.

The French government was also ready to support the use of force by West African nations for that purpose, as it upheld the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in its decision to mobilize reserve forces in the wake of the ousting.

By sending Nuland to Niger, the US demonstrated it was ready to talk to the coup leaders instead, Le Figaro said. “For [French President] Emmanuel Macron, the credibility of France, particularly in terms of discourse on democracy, was at stake. For the Americans, even if they are also concerned about a rapid return to constitutional order, the priority is the stability of the region,” the paper’s source within the foreign ministry said.

Americans simply want “to keep their bases” in the region above all else, the diplomat said, adding that Washington “will not hesitate” to drop a demand for what he called “constitutional legality” to achieve this goal.

Now, Paris fears that Washington could reach an agreement with Niger’s military government behind France’s back.

The US has a sizable force on the ground in Niger, amounting to some 1,300 soldiers and almost equaling that of France, which has around 1,500 servicemen in the country. American troops are divided between two bases, located in the Niger capital of Niamey and the northern city of Agadez.

Agadez is reportedly of particular importance for Washington as it houses a landing strip for drones and serves as a surveillance hub for a large area stretching from West Africa to Libya in the north.

According to Le Figaro, Paris is also displeased by the fact that, despite both France and the US having troops in Niger, it is only the French presence that provokes resentment among the locals. “The United States, like our other allies for that matter, has a habit of letting us take the hits,” the French diplomat told the paper.

The coup in Niger took place on July 26, when the presidential guard headed by Tchiani detained Bazoum and his family, citing a “deteriorating security situation and bad governance.” The move sparked condemnation from global powers, while ECOWAS imposed harsh sanctions on Niger and issued an ultimatum to the coup leaders to release Bazoum or face military intervention.

On Monday, Niger’s military government agreed to hold talks with ECOWAS in a bid to defuse tensions in the region.

Nuland visited Niger last Monday. During the talks, she warned the new military government against striking any deals with the Russian private military company Wagner and urged them to restore the Washington-friendly status quo.

(The funny part of this is that anyone in the EU ever supported Bidan in the first place. They were better off with Trump!)

Zelensky visits Ukrainian Neo-Nazi leader (VIDEO)

Ukraine’s president met with Azov founder Biletsky in a bunker somewhere in Donbass

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has toured several military units posted on the Donetsk front, including the notorious ‘Azov’ and ‘Aidar’. In a video posted on his social media on Monday, Zelensky can be seen meeting with Azov founder and neo-Nazi Andrey Biletsky inside a bunker.

An official statement by his office says Zelensky visited a number of units, including the 5th Separate Assault Brigade and the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, as part of a working visit to the “Soledar sector.” The town of Soledar itself has been in Russian hands since January, and the nearby Artyomovsk (aka Bakhmut) since May.

The 3rd SAB was established in September 2022 from remnants of the original Azov battalion, mauled in the fighting for Mariupol earlier that year. Biletsky, who had vanished from the public eye in late 2019, became the commander of the “Azov Tactical Group.” In a 45-second video posted by Zelensky on his social media, Biletsky can be seen briefing the president and several other officers.

Biletsky was widely recognized as a white supremacist and neo-Nazi before ‘Azov’ was whitewashed by Western media after the February 2022 escalation of hostilities with Russia. A January 2021 TIME magazine article described his ‘Patriot of Ukraine’ organization as a “neo-Nazi terrorist group,”whose “manifesto seemed to pluck its narrative straight from Nazi ideology.” The group would morph into “Azov volunteer battalion” as Ukraine moved to crush dissent in Donbass following the 2014 US-backed coup.

Biletsky himself told the outlet, back in 2014, that he hand-picked the symbols of Azov because they had been “used by Germans” in WWII. The Wolfsangel he chose had been on the shield of the 2nd SS Panzer Division ‘Das Reich,’ while the Black Sun comes from a mosaic commissioned by SS leader Heinrich Himmler for his castle.

In 2018, the Guardian describedBiletsky as an “ultranationalist MP” who declared in 2010 that the mission of Ukrainians was to “lead the white races of the world in a final crusade… against Semite-led Untermenschen [subhumans].”

Halfway through the video posted by Zelensky, the camera lingers on a bearded major, whose cap has an American flag patch. That appears to be Svyatoslav ‘Kalina’ Palamar, who surrendered in Azovstal in May last year and was sent to Türkiye as part of a prisoner swap in September.

Last month, he and four other Azov commanders, who were supposed to stay in Türkiye through the end of the hostilities, returned to Ukraine in violation of the deal. Palamar held the rank of captain at the time but appears to have been promoted since, judging by his insignia.

Earlier in the day, Zelensky had visited the 5th SAB, established in February to include the “24th Assault Battalion Aidar.” The volunteer unit of that name also fought in the Donbass in 2014 and was accused of war crimes. It was formally disbanded in 2015, after its members began terrorizing the population loyal to Kiev, and re-constituted as the 24th AB, originally assigned to the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade ‘Edelweiss.’

(Zelensky better skedaddle soon, or he will be dead!)

Russian military reports destruction of Spanish-made mortar in Ukraine

A 120mm ‘Alakran’ (Scorpion) was among the equipment struck for the first time by Moscow’s forces

The Russian Defense Ministry’s daily briefing has listed a Spanish-made 120mm heavy mortar as among the military equipment destroyed in the conflict with Ukraine. It is believed to be the first time that hardware of this type has been taken out by Moscow’s forces during the hostilities.

According to the ministry, the mortar was destroyed as Russian forces targeted Ukrainian troop positions in Kherson Region. The strike also resulted in three Ukrainian military vehicles being destroyed and up to 30 soldiers being killed.

Developed by Spanish company NTGS in the 2010s, the truck-mounted ‘Alakran’ (Scorpion) heavy mortar can rapidly change positions if needed. It is touted on the NTGS website as “a combat-proven system that is continually upgraded,” and the company notes that the 120mm barrels it produces “are specially designed to be used with the ALAKRAN system.”

The mortar itself is capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 7km, and can reportedly fire a total of 12 shells in the first minute after taking position. It is typically said to fire four shells per minute.

Russian military correspondent Yury Kotenok previously published a video purporting to show the destruction of the Spanish-made mortar. The short clip first shows a truck with the weapon system mounted on it standing on a dirt road passing through a field. The black-and-white footage then appears to show the truck being struck by a guided missile, before the video ends with images of the charred wreckage of the vehicle, apparently filmed from a drone.

The news comes as Russian forces continue to repel Ukrainian attacks on several sections of the front. Kiev launched its much-touted counteroffensive in early June, but according to Moscow it has failed to make any tangible gains since it began.

In Donbass alone, almost a dozen unsuccessful Ukrainian attacks have resulted in Kiev losing more than 500 soldiers as well as dozens of pieces of heavy military equipment over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The list of Ukrainian equipment losses included a German-made self-propelled howitzer PzH 2000, two Polish ‘Krab’ artillery pieces, and two US-made M777 howitzers, the report said.

Earlier on Monday, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu questioned the quality of Western weapons being supplied to Kiev. Arms provided by Washington and its allies have “turned out to be far from flawless in reality,” the minister said at the opening ceremony of the annual Army 2023 military-technical forum in Moscow Region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian military has lost 43,000 soldiers and some 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment in largely unsuccessful attempts to break through Russian defenses since the start of the counteroffensive.

Kek, I’ve been a one man shop for 4 years. I think they intend to say “there are 13 million more small business’s thriving under Bidan as opposed to Trump”. Not saying small business’s couldn’t afford employees after 2021.

The most employees I had was 5. They use these things to count very small business’s in the 1-500 employees company range. That way they can say, see the Bidan Admin is growing small business beating Trump. Kek
