Weapons in space

Kids: youre crazy they can’t put weapons in space.

Us: we already did and we begged them to do it. It was under Ronald Reagan after he was shot. It was called the Strategic Defense Initiative. Nicknamed ‘Star wars’ it was a satellite defense system that, from orbit, could blast Russian missiles out of the sky before they could get to the US. We were totally scared of the nuclear arms race so we were thrilled they were doing it

Kids: no I looked it up on the web and it only says it was planned not ever done.

Us: What? Huh? No, we knew they had done it. It was in all the papers constantly and congress arguing about the funding until it was put in place and we could feel safe again. We all breathed easier after it was established.

Kids: you’re crazy.
