'Pizza rule' isn’t a perfect fix, no matter how you slice it
Mayor Eric Adams and officials from the Department of Environmental Protection at the end of June proposed a regulation to curb emissions from restaurants using coal- and wood-powered stoves, known as the pizza rule. Since then business owners in the city and government officials have been sliced into two camps: those who see it as a solution to help address the city’s air quality challenges and those who find this particular fix too costly and limited in scope.
