Because Crowley made claims backed up by one little Indian cult follower, his word became the undisputed law for the mindless followers whom needed an excuse for the sadism. You cannot become a higher being by demanding blood, causing death or performing sex. If that was the case, everyone would have ascended long ago into higher beings.
Two dif pov's - one magical/energetic the other psychological.
Both are true imo.
Everyone does "magic" because it's how things come into being, thoughts manifest through intention.
Sex magic is powerful, it's manipulating the life force. Awesome but terrible.
Smart people are cautious - always temper any intention with "let God's will be done" or some such - the "override" switch in case they've got it wrong.
Some get fascinated with the "power" of the dark side = stealing from the light. Seems like a shortcut. Big benefits but temporary. By the time they find out, they've forgotten what it was like to play within the rules. So they continue. Have to be stopped bc cannot stop themselves.
